Sponsor the next generation of teachers, monks, yogis, and cultural stewards

Thirteen years ago, something small and hopeful began deep in the Mustang Valley of Nepal — a very remote and sacred location for Tibetan communities.

A handful of Tibetan children. A small rented space. A vision of keeping an ancient and deeply relevant culture alive.

Today, under the devoted leadership of Geshe Sonam, 65 students — girls and boys — are thriving and revitalizing within this living tradition and important culture.

Thirty-seven students reside at the MCEC Hostel in Jomsom, attending Nepalese schools while remaining rooted in Tibetan language and culture.

Eighteen are immersed in monastic training at Shenten Thagye Ling Monastery.

Ten are pursuing higher education in Pokhara.

These children are the heart and the future of the Tibetan Bon community in Nepal. They are the next generation of teachers, monks, yogis, and cultural stewards as well as a deep source of knowledge for anyone in the world looking to explore the vast nature of mind.

Each winter, every student returns home to share what they have learned with their extended families and local communities — seeds of cultural renewal, planted in every engagement and person they touch.

What is happening here is not only classroom learning.

The ancient knowledge and practices of the Bon are passed down from one generation to the next heart to heart, teacher to student.

Transmissions are carried forward by the children in one of the last places on earth where this precious culture can be sustained by the lineage and people who carry it in their blood.

The students we helped clothe, house, and teach for over a decade are now

finalizing their education and are bringing deep knowledge of their ancient

culture and practices back into the local communities. The investment is

flowering and giving back!

Among them are the next generation of monks, yogis, lamas, and cultural stewards — young men and women who will carry this wisdom into

their Himalayan communities, and who will soon stand before Western students as teachers of both ancient and contemplative practices and share the depth of their knowledge and wisdom.

Your sponsorship does not simply sustain a tradition — it ensures that tradition has a future. It plants a seed of genuine benefit for countless beings who will one day be touched by these student's presence, their fluency in their own heritage, and the wisdom they have been given the chance to fully receive.

This is More Than A Donation

This is more than a donation. It is developing a relationship — with a student, with a community, and with a living tradition the world genuinely needs right now.

Will You Sponsor a Student(s)?

For $1,400 a year — just over $100 a month — you provide a student with a full year of housing, meals, clothing, and education in both Nepalese schools and Tibetan Bon culture and practices.

You'll receive a personal annual update about the student you support, sharing their education program, special interests and aspirations, and a sense of the meaning these practices have for their life, and that of others.

Here is what each level of support makes possible:

$1,400 · Annual cost for education and care for a student.

$3,000 · Annual cost of college education for a student.

$5,000 · Dental care for all the children.

When you sponsor a student, you are not simply changing a single life. You are helping ensure that this wisdom remains alive and accessible for generations to come.

We would love to match you with a student and share their story with you. Simply reply to this email to get started.

We can't wait to build this future together with you.

With warmth and gratitude,

Mustang Bon Foundation
