NCURA Webinar

OSP registered for the NCURA webinar, "Navigating the Revisions to the Uniform Guidance" scheduled for December 14, 2020, 1:00pm.

The webinar will discuss key changes reflected in the 2020 revision, including updated definitions, new requirements as well as modifications to existing requirements. The discussion will include the government’s purpose in making a particular change, as well as the potential impact to institutions.

Updated Research Terms & Conditions

The Research Terms & Conditions are updated to implement the changes to Uniform Guidance, effective November 12, 2020. 

Agency Implementation Statements, RTC Overlay to 2 CFR 200, the Prior Approval Matrix and the updated Research Terms & Conditions are listed on the RTC website.

Updated NIH Requirement

NIH issued NOT-OD-21-030 to modify the terms and conditions of award for grants issued on or after August 31, 2020. The updated requirement incorporates the revised 2 CFR 200.216 and 200.471 that prohibits recipients and subrecipients from expending grant funds to:

  • Procure or obtain any covered telecommunications equipment, system, or services.
  • Enter contracts (or extend or renew contracts) with entities that use covered telecommunications equipment or services.

This prohibition shall apply even if the contract is not intended to procure or obtain any equipment, system, or service that uses covered telecommunications equipment or services.

Winter Break

The Office of Sponsored Projects will be closed for Winter Break from Wednesday, December 23, 2020 through Friday, January 1, 2021. Normal business will resume Monday, January 4, 2021.

Prior to close of business on Tuesday, December 22nd, researchers must work with OSP to submit proposals by 12:00 pm and finalize award actions with deadlines during our office closure. A skeleton crew will NOT be available during the break.

Our OSP mailbox and OSP voicemail will be checked 12/23, 12/28, 12/29, 12/30 & 12/31 between the hours of 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, with responses to emergency requests only. Urgent matters that arise after 2:00 pm on each day of office closure may be sent to rkgonzales@austin.utexas.edu.
Planning and Issuing Subawards

OSP Research Administration Training will launch SP1813: Planning & Issuing Subawards on February 10, 2021 from 9:30am - 11:00am.

The course provides learners with an in-depth look at the various policies and procedures associated with planning and issuing a subaward.

To participate in this session, please register for SP1813 in TRACKS.

The registration is capped at 50 participants. If the class fills quickly and there is interest, a second class will be scheduled for the end of February or early March.
