Federal Regulatory Updates
Continuing Resolutions Impact NIH Non-Competing Continuations
NIH is currently operating under continuing resolutions and, consistent with past practice, will issue non-competing research grant awards at a level below that indicated on the most recent Notice of Award (generally up to 90% of the previously committed level). Upward adjustments to awarded levels will be considered after FY 2020 appropriations are enacted. NRSA stipend and tuition rates are not impacted by this.

ORCID Identifiers in eRA Profiles
Enter once, reuse often. That’s the mantra of Open Researcher and Contributor Identification (ORCID), a non-profit organization that promotes the use of its unique digital identifier to connect researchers with their science contributions over time and across changes of name, location and institutional affiliation. With this in mind, in fiscal year 2020, NIH will begin requiring individuals supported by training, fellowship, career development, and other research education awards to have an ORCID iD linked to their personal electronic Research Administration (eRA) account.

Pickle Campus (ROC 1.900)

UT Research Management Suite
The implementation of the UT Research Management Suite (formerly RMS replacement project) officially kicked-off last week with the start of the design phase for the non-funded research agreements module. This is the first of several integrated components of the suite, bringing greater efficiency, organization, and transparency to proposal creation and submission, contracts and awards management, reporting, and compliance (IRB, IACUC, and FCOI). Non-Funded Agreements will go live in the Spring of 2020, followed by a roll-out the other modules over the next two years.

Continuing Education
The Office of Sponsored Projects and other research support units offer educational opportunities on campus each month. Check the OSP Calendar for free on-campus training that is applicable to CRA re-certification. Below are training opportunities that were available last month as well as those coming up in the month ahead.
