Sponsor Updates
NSF Announcements

NSF issued a number of updates to the research community during the previous month. These updates include:

  • Updated Current & Pending FAQs that includes clarifications on professional appointments, research endeavors, principal investigators working outside the U.S. for an extended period of time, and reporting on in-kind support and outside consulting activities. 

  • System upgrades to Research.Gov to allow submission for collaborative proposals and updates to the Single Copy Document section and the Budget to include cost share when required by the solicitation.

  • The revised Terms and Conditions that will become effective on October 5, 2020 will impact Major Facility awards. NSF created this FAQ and this reference table to provide guidance to recipients of Major Facility awards.
eRA Commons for Extensions

AHRQ issued Notice NOT-HS-20-120 that requires recipients to notify of first No-Cost Extension allowed under expanded authorities through eRA Commons. Recipients may use this function in eRA Commons now, but will be required on October 1, 2020.
Changes to Notice of Awards

NIH issued Notice NOT-OD-20-155 announcing upcoming changes to the Notice of Award (NoA) format. Effective October 1, 2020, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has developed a standardized Page One of the NoA and this will serve as the first page of every HHS NoA for all discretionary awards.

The new Page One captures key award information for grant recipients in a digitally accessible format and provides consistency across HHS.
University Updates

UT Research Management Suite

The UT Research Management Suite - IRB module goes live on August 11. The IRB is taking a staggered approach to new study submissions and migration of existing studies into the new IRB module. Researchers and support staff are encouraged to attend one of the IRB Informational Webinars held in the month of August to learn more. View the events calendar for details and registration and as always please visit the regularly-updated project Training and Resources pages for user guides, walkthroughs, and other materials designed to help familiarize you and your research teams with system navigation, submission processes, and review workflows.

Fall CRA Study Group

The study group will meet each Tuesday (12:00pm-1:00pm) over Zoom starting August 11, 2020 - October 27, 2020.

If you missed the Information Session held on July 21st, and are interested in participating in the study group, please email Annie Marshall at andrea.marshall@austin.utexas.edu.

The CRA testing window is scheduled for November 1 - 30, 2020.
