Federal Updates
NIH Harassment and Discrimination Protection in Training Applications
Effective January 25, 2019, applications for NIH institutional training grants (T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TL4) must include a letter on institutional letterhead signed by a key institutional leader describing the institution's policy on harassment and assault. Look to the OSP website in coming days for a link to this letter for use in training grant proposals.

NSF PAPPG (19-1) Webinar
A revised version of the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) has been issued, and will be effective January 28, 2019. A webinar discussing the major changes is available for streaming now. Major changes include:
  • Conference proposals over $50K and all equipment proposals must include Collaborators and Other Affiliations (COA);
  • Revision of re-submission guidelines for NSF programs without deadlines;
  • Implementation of NSF's policy on sexual harassment or assault: UT's harassment policy must be disseminated to conference participants.

NIH 2019 NRSA Stipend
Stipend levels for fiscal year (FY) 2019 Kirschstein-NRSA awards for undergraduate, predoctoral, and postdoctoral trainees and fellows, have been released. The Training Related Expenses and the Institutional Allowance for postdoctoral trainees and fellows have been increased, but those for predoctoral trainees and fellows and the Tuition and Fees for all educational levels remain unchanged.
