Spooky Sprint

Enjoy a one-mile themed run around Eaton Preserve October 19 at the Third Annual Spooky Sprint! Race kicks off at 10:31 a.m. Participants receive a shirt and swag bag that includes a unique, event-themed giveaway along with some other cool items. All runners MUST be registered one month prior to the start of their run to be guaranteed their shirt size.

Frankenstein's Kiddie Carnival

Ghosts and goblins enjoy an evening of carnival games, crafts and an inflatable 6 to 8 p.m., October 11 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Fee includes 12 game tickets, crafts and a snack. Additional tickets are available for sale on site.

Haunted Hayrides

Bone-chilling thrills abound on spooky fun-filled hayrides 5 to 9 p.m., October 18-19 at Eaton Preserve. Scares keep you looking over your shoulder as the ride twists and turns. Register online to reserve your spot. Tickets are available for purchase onsite if spots are available.

Pints for Parks

Enjoy Werk Force Brewery's award-winning selection of beers along with a catered dinner from Happy Belly’s scratch kitchen at the Inaugural Pints for Parks set for 6 to 9 p.m., November 14. Proceeds from the event benefit the scholarship fund for the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation, which assists the Park District in its mission of providing recreation opportunities for all residents. Included in admission are two drink tickets, a raffle ticket, and a catered dinner. Acoustic singer/song-writer Seth Mercer is the evening's entertainer, playing originals and cover songs that span from the 70's to today.

Scarecrow Showcase

Build a scarecrow and donate it to the Plainfield Park District to be displayed at Haunted Hayrides and the Spooky Spring October 18-19. Anyone or any group can participate. This is a DIY project. Materials are not provided.

Grinchmas Trees

Celebrate the season by purchasing your own tree to decorate for our annual tree lighting ceremony at Village Green Park! Only a few trees are left.

4-Month Track Pass

Get your steps for only $10 a month! Four-month track pass memberships at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center (PARC) go on sale October 14 through November 10. The pass is $40 and valid for four months from day of purchase. Memberships grant access to the elevated indoor walking track and locker room. Purchase your pass at PARC.

Thursday Night Yoga

NEW yoga class now being offered on Thursday nights! Class runs 6:45 to 7:30 p.m., October 10 through December 5. This class is designed to ease participants into a discipline that will help refresh their bodies and minds while enhancing flexibility and strengthening muscles.

Youth Basketball

Registration is OPEN for our youth basketball league! Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Enrollment in the winter is limited, so register early. Registration is done by grade. Register your child for the grade they are in for the current school year. Earlybird rate ends October 14. Registration deadline is November 8.
