“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” Galatians‬ ‭6:14‬a‭

In 1977, the Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings were getting ready for Super Bowl XI. Don Shinnick, Linebacker Coach for the Raiders, was walking through the locker room when he saw a couple of players preparing for the game.

One player recalled this moment during the biggest game of his life and he said Coach Shinnick walked right over to him and his teammates. Coach knew they were Jesus followers and said, “God forbid that I glory in anything but the cross of Jesus Christ.”

He and his teammates were speechless because their coach was reminding them what “really mattered.”

A few days later, I read this story and was impacted instantly. I have been a Raider fan since the 6th grade, and winning this “ship” put me on cloud 9. Little did I know what God had planned for me and this verse.

From that day, Galatians 6:14 has been my life verse. It also became our purpose verse for the Kentucky Baptist Sports Crusaders, now Sports Reach. Our purpose will always remain “God’s Glory!”

Remember, “He not Me!”

For God’s Glory,

Shoutout to Andrea and Calli for seeing a need and meeting it! This car full of packages was a result of a mission trip to Belize. Andrea and Calli served at a children’s home there and noticed they were in dire need of new books, so these ladies gathered books and sent them.
