ESPN is reporting that Kyrie Irving and Deandre Jordan will be joining Durant in Brooklyn. Durant, who sustained a

San Francisco Giants Report

San Francisco logged a subpar performance this past week in terms of record, but it was arguably on-par with the season the Giants are having at this point. Beginning the seven-game home stretch at 33-43, San Francisco recorded three wins and four losses to fall to 36-47.
With the worst batting average in the entire MLB (.226), the second-least hits (625), and the third-least runs scored (326) at the end of the week, the Giants are yet to find any groove at the dish, and these symptoms flared up to start the week. Despite 11 Ks from starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz on Monday, the Giants bats were shut down in a 2-0 loss at home against the Colorado Rockies. On Tuesday San Francisco fought back in a 4-2 victory behind Bumgarner, with 11 Ks of his own and aided by a homer from Tyler Austin in an improved offensive performance. Despite putting up two runs in the first inning of Wednesday's rubber match -- a solo jack from Pablo Sandoval -- San Francisco fell, 6-3, and lost the series.
Looking to bounce back while still at Oracle Park on Thursday, the Giants produced another lackluster offensive performance, only plating one run to fall, 5-1, to the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Giants avoided a three-game skid with a 6-3 victory on Friday. Brandon Crawford notched his 1,000th career hit and Alex Dickerson juiced a homer in the winning effort behind a solid outing from Shaun Anderson. Pomeranz had a shutout start over five innings on Saturday, but the Giants bats didn't come alive until the bottom of the ninth. Down 4-0, the Giants plated three but were unsuccessful in mounting a comeback, losing 4-3. Seeking to avoid back-to-back series losses, the Giants put together a ten-run performance -- one that was uncharacteristic of their season thus far -- and perhaps signaling a momentum shift just past the midway point of this 2019 season. Bumgarner backed up the explosive offense with seven shutout innings, allowing just a single run on four hits while dealing 9 Ks.
Nonetheless, the Giants are still 36-47 and in last place in the NL West, 5.5 games back of the
D-Backs. With a brief break in their homestand, San Francisco will square off with the Padres for three games in San Diego before heading home for a three-game weekend series with the St. Louis Cardinals to finish up before the All-Star Break. Closer Will Smith will represent San Francisco in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Thursday,

Oakland started their week off with their 80th game of the year, looking to close in on a wild card spot as the season nears the All-Star break. St. Louis was the site of a two-game interleague matchup with the Cardinals. The Athletics offense stepped up for six runs in the top of the fifth inning in game one, which included a two-run blast from Chad Pinder, to emerge victorious. After Chris Bassitt allowed three runs in his start, manager Bob Melvin used five pitchers to close out the ballgame, winning 7-3. Stephen Piscotty, a former Cardinal, received a standing ovation as he strode into the plate at Busch Stadium in the second inning of the first game. On Wednesday the A's swept the two-game series behind starter Daniel Mengden, who tossed six shutout innings with five strikeouts. The bullpen backed him up, holding on for a 2-0 win.
Oakland returned to SoCal on Thursday to begin a four-game set against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Though they were unable to stay hot in the first matchup, falling 8-3, they were facing the best of what the Angels had to offer, which included an explosive twelve-hit offensive performance. As it turned out for the rest of the series, however, the A's were stronger. Matt Olson pumped two jacks in a 3-for-3, five RBI performance at the dish on the way to a 7-3 win in Friday's bout. The A's rolled for another victory on Saturday after Brett Anderson hucked a gem, dealing seven-and-two-thirds scoreless innings for a 4-0 victory.
On Sunday Matt Chapman was elected to represent Oakland in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game as a third base reserve. Later in the day, Chappy logged an All-Star-worthy performance in a 3-for-5 outing at the plate, recording six RBIs with a triple and a homer. Oakland reigned victorious in Sunday's contest as they bulldozed the Angels for a 12-3 win and series triumph.
The Oakland Athletics are now 46-39 on the season, just a half game back from the AL West second-place Texas Rangers. The A's will look to keep their charge for a Wild Card spot steady next week, as they square up with the Minnesota Twins at home and the Seattle Mariners on the road before the All-Star break.
