on January 7. Pictured, left to right, San Francisco 49ers president Al Guido, Bay Area Host Committee executive director Patricia Ernstrom, Allstate Sugar Bowl president Rod West, who will carry the baton back to New Orleans in preparation for the 2020 CFP National Championship, and CFP executive director Bill Hancock. "I want to express my gratitude to Bill and the entire College Football Playoff community and team," said
Bay Area Host Committee executive director Patricia Ernstrom.
"It really has been an extraordinary experience, and it is a great honor and a privilege to host the College Football Playoff National Championship in this market. The entire country got to witness what we all know is so special about Northern California." Text and photo courtesy

Los Angeles Rams and former Cal Bears quarterback Jared Goff
Quarterback Jared Goff has moved his Los Angeles Rams one step closer to the Super Bowl with a 30-22 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday, Jan. 12. The former Cal quarterback set numerous team records as a Bear and was the Rams' first round draft pick (1st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Goff has excelled again in his third year as the Rams signal caller and was named to his first Pro Bowl following the 2017 season. Above, Goff is seen as Cal's quarterback in their 2015 game against San Diego State, a 35-7 Bears victory.
