Bay Area Host Committee and College Football Playoff press conference
The Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC) and the College Football Playoff (CFP) hosted a press conference last Tuesday to officially conclude the 2019 CFP National Championship and highlight the accomplishments of the local organizing committee around the national championship held at
Levi's® Stadium
on January 7. Pictured, left to right, San Francisco 49ers president Al Guido, Bay Area Host Committee executive director Patricia Ernstrom, Allstate Sugar Bowl president Rod West, who will carry the baton back to New Orleans in preparation for the 2020 CFP National Championship, and CFP executive director Bill Hancock. "This team was responsible for hosting tens of thousands of visitors, filling every hotel in downtown San Jose," said
49ers president Al Guido.
"I want to express my gratitude to Bill and the entire College Football Playoff community and team," said

Los Angeles Rams and former Cal Bears quarterback Jared Goff
Quarterback Jared Goff has moved his Los Angeles Rams one step closer to the Super Bowl with a 30-22 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday, Jan. 12. The former Cal quarterback set numerous team records as a Bear and was the Rams' first round draft pick (1st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. Goff has excelled again in his third year as the Rams signal caller and was named to his first Pro Bowl following the 2017 season. Gilroy -- Wrestling -- Senior
He got the hat! The Michigan State-bound Chase Saldate continued his dominant senior campaign with a championship victory in the 138-pound division of the prestigious Doc Buchanan Wrestling Tournament on Jan. 4-5, where the champion is bestowed a brand new Stetson cowboy hat. Saldate was Gilroy's only champion in the Clovis-based tournament, helping to lead the Mustangs to a fourth-place finish. Saldate is currently the No. 1-ranked wrestler in NorCal by SportStars Magazine and ranked No. 2 in the state by TheCaliforniaWrestler.com. He finished fourth in the 126-pound division of the 2018 CIF State Wrestling Championships last March.
