Kaepernick - 8-29-16
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, awash in controversy over his refusal to stand during the playing of the National Anthem, made his preseason debut on Friday, August 26 against the Green Bay Packers at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.  During several series in the second quarter, Kap threw and ran the ball, but failed to put any points on the board. Tied 7-7 at halftime, the Packers' reserves controlled the second half, and the Niners fell, 21-10.  Next up on the preseason schedule is a road game against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, September 1, airing on KPIX 5 at 7 p.m.

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock (26) upends Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy after a short run on Friday night at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. It was the third preseason game for both teams and the Packers emerged the winner, 21-10, to improve to 3-0, while the 49ers slipped to 1-2. Next up on the 49ers schedule is their final preseason game, on the road against the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, September 1, airing on KPIX 5 at 7 p.m. Photo by Michael Zagaris.

49ers cornerback Chris Davis (on the ground, making the tackle) corrals Green Bay running back James Starks (44) as San Francisco linebacker Aaron Lynch (59) throttles the Packers tackle, Bryan Bulaga (75). But the 49ers defensive wasn't consistent and the time of possession heavily favored Green Bay: 39.29 minutes versus 20.31 minutes. Photo by Michael Zagaris.

49ers defensive lineman Ronald Blair (98) and defensive tackle Tank Carradine (95) harass the Packers' Joe Callahan (6) but it wasn't enough, as the backup quarterback would pass for 167 yards and one touchdown, completing 16/24.

Charismatic and with a winning presence, San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford seems an unlikely home run hitter, yet he is tied with catcher Buster Posey with 12. Coco - Crisp - 8-29-16 - Michael Zagaris
Speedy A's outfielder Coco Crisp seemingly beat the tag at third base, attempting to stretch a double into a triple in the sixth inning of their game against the Cleveland Indians on Monday, August 22, but was called out. A replay review could not prove conclusively he was safe and the original call stood. Oakland fell, 1-0.

Oakland A's center fielder Coco Crisp, seen here during an earlier game in the dugout of the Oakland Coliseum, went one for four on Friday, August 26 on the road at Busch Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals.  A's starter Ross Detwiler gave up two runs in the first inning, and Oakland never recovered, falling 3-1.

RAAM - 8-29-16
Anyone capable of finishing in eighth place in the Race Across America (RAAM) is obviously an exceptional ultra-cyclist. But it seems that Adam Bickett isn't satisfied with posting that result in 2015 and has registered for another go at it next year. RAAM fans will remember that while Bickett finished in 10 days, 15 hours and 53 minutes, he also spent over 36 hours stopped in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, suffering from altitude-related edema that had filled his lungs with fluid. Deduct those 36 hours from his eventual time and we have the "what if" finish time of 8 days, 23 hours and 53 minutes, which would have put him in third place. Will he have the speed and racing savvy to race for the win? RAAM 2017 promises to be interesting and exciting.  Photo and caption by Vic Armijo / RAAM Media.
