10-31-16 - Giants - Kenny Karst
BOO!  Still looking for a black and orange Halloween costume to wear this evening?  How about going as a shark?  San Francisco Giants pitcher Jeff Samardzija has had that nickname since his early days at Notre Dame. "It all started my freshman year. I was new on the baseball team. I showed up, didn't know anyone. I was talking to (former Notre Dame pitcher Chris) Niesel, and out of nowhere they called me `Shark' because they said I looked like the shark on Finding Nemo. It started during a game while I was pitching and they yelled at me from the dugout. Then coach (Paul) Mainieri picked it up and it just snowballed from there. I guess I look like a shark."  And so can you! Happy Halloween!

10-31-16 - 49ers - Kenny Karst
San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly doesn't envision making a quarterback change from Colin Kaepernick (pictured) following their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "I think it's a combination of the routes we're running, the protection that we're giving him and then giving him the time that he has to throw it," Kelly said. "I thought he's been OK so far. I saw an improvement from the Bills game to this game." The 49ers, now 1-6 on the season, had a bye this past weekend, and will host the New Orleans Saints at Levi's Stadium on Sunday, November 6, at 1:05 p.m.  © 2016 Kenny Karst Photography.

With the NFL trade deadline looming on Tuesday, November 1, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Torrey Smith has been the subject of trade rumors. "The (Philadelphia) Eagles are looking for a receiver, and talks with the 49ers regarding the possibility of acquiring Torrey Smith are still not dead," wrote Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. In the 49ers' seven games this season, Smith has 13 receptions for 199 yards and two touchdowns.
