Friday afternoon, our Panther men took on cross town rivals Palos Verdes High School.  Before the start of the game, all residents of our community came together for a BBQ.  It was great to see the entire hill together, eating burgers, and excited that football was back!  Although the game ended 35-0 in favor of the Sea Kings, the courage and determination shown by our men served as a premonition of thing to come.  After the game, both teams exchanged hugs and the Sea Kings were congratulated for another bay league championship, but something that was new was an overall feeling that the game was much closer than the score stated and that both teams were excited for next years game.  Our Panthers completed their season 7-3 and, now that the season is over, can be found after school in the weight room preparing for next years match up!

The Girls Tennis team season ended on Monday with a loss in the CIF Quarter-finals to University 11-7. Tia Elpusan swept all three of her singles matches and Amanda Sharng won two.

The team ended the season 16-4 and won the Bay League for the 7th year in a row.

Two girls, the doubles team of Katelyn Parker and Tia Elpusan, are still competing in CIF individuals. They'll play on Nov. 21.

Last Thursday, the boys' and girls' cross country teams traveled down the road to Redondo for the final Bay League event of the season. Despite a few injuries that caused athletes to sit out, the ladies had a great showing by placing fourth -- only one point behind Redondo -- their best finish in years. Additionally, junior Jessica Nye rallied with a last-minute surge over the final 100m of the three-mile course to finish in sixth place, securing herself an individual spot at CIF SS Prelims this Friday. This is a huge improvement for Nye as she finished 15th at Bay League Finals last year and 10th at the first Bay League meet in October. Other notable finishes for the ladies include seniors Kiley Atwood (16th place) and Erin O'Hara (23rd place), juniors Katie Stam (25th place) and Sara Kalantar (28th place), as well as freshman standouts Sabrina Tang (26th place) and Kristi Copeland (27th place).

The young boys team also placed fourth in the final event with an impressive run by top Panther, junior Kade Wong (10th place) and the support of sophomore David Hindman (22nd place), juniors Devin Limberg (23rd place) and Ryan Lee (24th place), as well as sophomore RJ Wakefield-Carl (26th place). Juniors Chris Alon (27th place) and James Duston (28th place) rounded out Peninsula's varsity team finishers.
