Peninsula played the Paramount Pirates on Friday night in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, and won the non-conference game 63-51. The boys dominated play, starting from the opening tip-off. The Panthers had balanced scoring across the team, led by Wony'a Singleton with 14 points and Blake Godbold with 12 points.

On Tuesday night, the boys opened up league play in impressive fashion, defeating Mira Costa 68-45.  The team was led by its swarming defense, as well as, the impressive play of Nick Frasso, his monster two hand dunk led to our ZOO to new heights of celebration.

Up next for our Panthers is an away match tonight at Morningside High.

Peninsula's girls basketball team lost to Mira Costa 44-28 in their opening Bay League game. Mira Costa pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the lady Panthers 17 to 7. Rain, rain, go away!!!  Due to inordinate amounts of rain, all this week's soccer games have been canceled and will be made up at an undetermined later date.

In a wild week of waterpolo, our Lady Panthers first defeated Long Beach Poly, 6-5, then fell to Redondo Beach High School, 2-5.  On the season, our Panthers are now 1-1 in league  and will look to remain in the playoff hunt as they go up against cross town rivals  Palos Verdes High at home next Friday.

In the first league match, our Panther wrestlers came form behind to earn the match win against Santa Monica!  Our Panthers took the early lead 10-0, but as the weight classes increased so did the skill level of Santa Monica.  Heading down the stretch, Peninsula needed pins in the final two weight classes if it was to pull out the victory.  In true Panther form, our heavy weights put their opponents backs to the mats to secure the victory and help our Panthers take one step closer to another league championship.
