It's time to celebrate volunteers
National Volunteer Week is April 18-24!
 
Sask Sport would like to thank the more than 330,000 volunteers who help make sport, culture and recreation activities in Saskatchewan possible.

From board members to medical staff, coaches to schedulers, officials to announcers, volunteers dedicate their time and efforts to filling those roles and many others.

Even in a year when organized activities were reduced, there was no shortage of volunteers ready and willing to do whatever they could, wherever they could.

The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) is joining with Lara Schroeder of Spark Solutions to present a webinar about Virtual Volunteering for Communities and Nonprofits on Tuesday, April 20 at 11 a.m.

This interactive webinar will discuss what virtual volunteering is and share examples of how virtual volunteering has been utilized by communities and organizations over the past year.

Registration is free for SPRA members and $20 for non-members. Capacity is limited to 100 participants.
Sask Sport Annual General Meeting - June 17


The Sask Sport Annual General Meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, June 17 at 1 p.m.

More information, including how to register, as well as instructions for Board of Director nominations will be announced at a later date.
Relationships key to Dream Broker program longevity
"I do not stop my mindset as a Dream Broker when I get home. I am in Dream Broker mode 24/7. It has changed my life."

The 10 Dream Brokers from communities across Saskatchewan discuss the importance of connecting inner-city children and youth to sport, culture and recreation activities for the last 15 years.

Making her name know: Pritchard an up-and-coming figure in Saskatchewan boxing
Like many before her, Abigail Pritchard's desire to become a coach stemmed from her involvement in sport as an athlete.

"I was like 'Hey, I'm good at this. I really want to do this.' So before I ever was a coach, I pictured myself as one..."

It's that desire that led her to pursue a coaching position at Hub City Boxing in Saskatoon while utilizing the Saskatchewan Coaching Academy to work through NCCP modules.

"It's hard to dream something if you can't see it.": Mentorship grant helping female coaches
Saskatoon-based coaches Jennifer Robinson, Emily Humbert and Jennie Waldner were selected as the inaugural recipients of the High Performance Women In Coaching Mentorship Grant.

Launched in 2020, the new initiative is made possible through funding from Sport Canada, the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan.
