Olympics wrapping up, Paralympics on deck |

The majority of Saskatchewan's Olympic contingent is wrapping up their Games experience, but there's still more action to come in the final days.
Following the Olympics, there will be a few weeks break before the Paralympics start on August 24.
Recently, four Saskatchewan athletes have been added to their respective teams, including Regina wheelchair basketball players Nik Goncin and Garrett Ostepchuk, Regina wheelchair racer Jessica Frotten and Melfort sitting volleyball player Julie Kozun. Regina's Frank Gaudet has also been selected as a coach for the Para badminton team.

Through the Canadian Sport Institutes Network (COPSIN), the Canadian Olympic Foundation has launched the Team Canada 50/50, a coast-to-coast 50/50 raffle. Canadians can enter a provincial or territorial raffle by going to TeamCanada5050.ca. Tickets start at $10.
Purchasing tickets for the Team Canada 50/50 supports Canadian Olympians on their path to the podium. Net proceeds from each provincial raffle will be invested directly into the respective provincial and territorial sport system, helping athletes to pursue their Olympic dreams. Each winner will take home half of the final jackpot and the other half will be invested into the winner’s province or territory.
In Saskatchewan, the funds raised will support high performance athletes on the paths to Olympic or Paralympic podiums. Plans are being made for how the proceeds will be spent in the province.

$200,000 available for Adapted Sport and Recreation Grants through City of Regina |

The City of Regina is accepting grant applications to distribute $200,000 in funds for adapted sport and recreation programs and initiatives in our community.
Under the Adapted Sport and Recreation program, non-profit organizations can apply for:
- New programs/projects/services
- One-time support for existing programs/projects/services
- Capital initiatives including renovations and equipment purchase
- Events
The funding will be distributed as grants for projects and initiatives that focus on enhancing inclusion and increasing accessibility in sport and recreation for people with disabilities.
Applications close on September 10 and funding will be distributed by October 31, 2021.

Provincial skeleton talent identification camps |
|
Bobsleigh and skeleton athletes often come from other sports as their talents are easily transferable. Athletes who are interested in testing their potential in the sports are invited to talent identification camps.
- Saskatoon - August 14, 12 p.m. - Saskatoon Field House
- Regina - August 15, 1 p.m. - Canada Games Athletic Complex
The camps are open to athletes ages 14 and up and are free to register.

KidSport, Viterra bring kids Back to Sport |
|
KidSport Saskatchewan and Viterra have teamed up to ensure all kids in the province can get Back to Sport.
The KidSport Back to Sport with Viterra project launched Tuesday to ensure that kids have an opportunity to run, jump, learn and play through sport. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on families have increased the financial barriers associated with sport. In the month of August, Viterra will match all donations to KidSport Saskatchewan up to $5,000 to get kids off the sidelines and into the game. Money raised stays in each local Saskatchewan community.

Upcoming NCCP courses through the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan |

The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan is offering three Make Ethical Decision workshops as part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in August.
Each of the workshops are online and cost $50. Indigenous Coaches and Officials Program (ICOP) coaches can register for free using the ICOP Participant Profile Form.
- Wednesday, August 11 at 6-10 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 17 at 6-10 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 31 at 6-10 p.m.

Nominations open for 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games torchbearers |
|
Nominate an individual who you believe embodies the core characteristics of the relay: celebration, community, participation, and pride. The Saskatchewan Winter Games Torch Relay will take place on February 20, 2021 prior to the opening ceremonies.
The nominee may be a person that has excelled athletically or personally, a positive role model who impacts the lives of those around them. They may be someone who has enhanced the fabric of your community, embodies the spirit of volunteerism, or is a hometown hero. Nominations are due September 30, 2021.

Member tip: Resilience through adaptation |
|
Directions from public health organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic drastically altered the sport sector, causing many sport decision makers to reconsider what their organization does and how they do it. Although the full scope of the short- and long-term impacts are yet to be seen, some organizations have not survived. Others have used this period as a time to adapt their operations, develop, and incorporate new ideas.
Documenting how decision makers have adapted to this unprecedented crisis provides important insights about the adaptive capacity of sport organizations.
