Sask Sport Annual General Meeting
Sask Sport’s Annual General Meeting will be held on  Friday, June 19 . This year’s meeting will be held online using a digital meeting platform.

Outdoor sports can resume on Monday, June 22 with restrictions
Outdoor sports can resume play with restrictions starting Monday, June 22. The provincial government announced that the first part of the Phase 4 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan will start on Monday and will include outdoor sports and activities, outdoor pools and splash pads, and child and youth day camps.

Last week the government released a list of guidelines to protect the health and safety of players, coaches and participants. The guidelines can be found here .

All sports organizations must have a plan for how to minimize physical contact and the risk of COVID-19 transmission between participants. Sask Sport has produced resources to help groups plan their return to play, which can be found here .

Full contact sports such as tackle football, rugby, wrestling, boxing and martial arts are not yet allowed.

Indoor sports are included in the second part of Phase 4, which includes indoor pools, indoor rinks, libraries, museums, galleries, movie theatres, casinos and bingo halls. The date for the second part of Phase 4 will be announced soon. 
Saskatchewan's apprentice coaches named for 2021 Canada Games
The Coaches Association of Canada has announced the Aboriginal Apprentice Coaches and the Women in Coaching Apprentice Coaches for the 2021 Canada Games.

Congratulations to the four Saskatchewan coaches who were selected.
Safe Sport Campaign gets results
Sask Sport and the Government of Saskatchewan partnered on a campaign to keep sport healthy, safe and fun. The results are in and they show the campaign made an impact.
The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness of the Respect Resource Line and other resources available to help people who may experience bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination in sport. The goal of the campaign was to increase the number of times people viewing the safe sport resources on Sask Sport’s website.

The campaign ran in two phases – October/early November 2019, and late February/early March 2020. It mainly targeted athletes, parents and coaches through on-line and social media advertising. The second phase also featured posters which were distributed to Saskatchewan schools and recreation facilities.

The ads delivered 7.4 million impressions, which refers to the number of times people were exposed to the ads. There was a 50 per cent increase in users coming to the website in the same period from the previous year, as well as a 25 per cent increase in the number of times users looked at more than one page. More than 8,000 visitors to the page clicked on one or more of the resources on the page.

That is a lot more people learning about healthy, safe and fun ways to play! Campaign materials and resources are available here if you would like to help spread the word.
