Sask Sport welcomes New Chair
and Board Members
Angella Pinay was elected Chair of Sask Sport Inc. at the organization’s Annual General Meeting on June 19.

Pinay has been a member of Sask Sport’s Board of Directors since 2018, when she was nominated by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. At the AGM, the sport federation’s membership also elected four new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Valerie Gordon, nominated by Sask High School Athletic Association
  • Cornelia Laliberte, nominated by Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture and Recreation Inc.
  • Janelle Layton, nominated by Saskatchewan Soccer Association
  • Michael Rogers, nominated by Sport Medicine and Science Council of Saskatchewan

“We know that sport does so much to enhance the quality of life within this province and contributes to healthy lifestyles for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Thank you for everything you do to bring amateur sport to people and communities throughout Saskatchewan,” said outgoing Chair, Kenric Exner, at the meeting.
Celebrating Indigenous participation in sport, culture and recreation
On June 21, join us in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day and recognizing the achievements and rich culture of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

Last year, Sask Sport, supported by the Indigenous Sport Leadership Council, released an interactive sport timeline that guides visitors decade by decade through the evolution of Indigenous involvement in sport, culture and recreation initiatives throughout the province. It also highlights the important partnerships created to help build programming, resources and funding for Saskatchewan communities.
Annual Reports Available
It was another exciting and successful year for Sask Sport and all of the Give Kids A Chance Charity Inc.(GKACCI) programs.

Sask Sport and Sask Lotteries both went through a major rebrand in 2019-20 and continued to provide millions of dollars in funding to support over 12,000 sport, culture and recreation groups in communities across the province.

Meanwhile, the four GKACCI programs (Dream Brokers, Jumpstart, KidSport and Northern Sport, Culture and Recreation District) impacted over 23,445 Saskatchewan children and youth by providing them with chances that lead to choices.
