Changes to Sask Sport Events and Services
The COVID-19 virus situation has caused many groups, including Sask Sport, to reassess upcoming public events and gatherings.

After careful consideration, Sask Sport has decided to cancel the upcoming Saskatchewan Sport Awards event

Sask Sport will announce the recipients of all awards online on March 26.
Access to Administration Centre Buildings Restricted
To protect the health and safety of all building residents, and to do our part to limit the community spread of COVID-19, Sask Sport has closed the Administration Centre offices to the public for the time being. This includes offices at the following locations:

  • 1860 Lorne Street, Regina
  • 1870 Lorne Street, Regina
  • 2205 Victoria Avenue, Regina
  • Mosaic Stadium, Regina
  • 2001 Cornwall Street, Regina
  • 510 Cynthia Street, Saskatoon

All of the facilities above remain open to Sask Sport employees and building tenants. Sask Sport will continue to monitor reports from public health agencies and reassess and extend this policy as needed.
Administration Centre Services
  • All boardroom bookings will be cancelled for the foreseeable future, and no new bookings will be accepted.
  • Payroll and bookkeeping services will not be affected by these public access closures.
  • Mail and courier services will continue as per usual for building residents.
  • Printing Services will remain operational. If you have questions about the print services, please contact Aron at (306) 780.9210.

Athlete of the Month
Prince Albert’s Karson Lehner is Sask Sport’s Athlete of the Month for February.

On Feb. 22, Lehner broke the Saskatchewan sprint record in a 300-metre race, clocking in at 33.07 for gold at the Canada West Track & Field Championship.

At the event, Lehner also won a silver medal in the 60-metre dash and received the Outstanding Performance of the Meet – Male award. The Huskie Athletics athlete has also been named the Canada West Male Track Athlete of the Year.
Reminder: Athlete of the Month Nominations

The next nomination deadline is March 31.

Women in Sport Networking Event
Skills were developed and relationships were built at the Women in Sport Networking events held online March 10 in Saskatoon, Regina and online. At the events, attendees learned about the value of possessing strong networking skills, both personally and professionally, and how building their network is a long-term investment with great payoffs.

Thanks to all those who attended and helped strengthen the network among Saskatchewan’s female sport leaders.
Free Online Concussion Course

Registration is now open for a free online course that will help participants prevent, identify and manage concussions.

The course, which runs from April 6 to May 25, is provided by the University of Calgary and Université Laval.
Adaptive Sport Club Development and Equipment Grants

A deadline is approaching for community clubs to submit applications for Sask Sport’s Adaptive Sport Equipment and Club Development Grants.

These grants are funded through the Sask Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation. They are designed to assist the purchase of adapted equipment and support new development programs, as well as those that are expanding to new sports or groups of participants.

Clubs must submit applications to Provincial Sport Organizations and Districts by March 22.
