The provincial government is lifting many restrictions on outdoor team sport starting May 30. The current restrictions on indoor sport and outdoor individual sport will remain in place until June 20 when the province reaches Step 2 in the Re-Opening Saskatchewan plan.

The deadline for nominations is June 11. Elections will be held during the Sask Sport AGM on June 17 at 1 p.m.

New name, same resource line
|
|
The Sask Sport Resource Line provides information, bilingual support, resources and referrals for sport in Saskatchewan regarding possible bullying, abuse, harassment, discrimination or hazing.
This confidential and anonymous resource, operating 365 days of the year from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., is intended to assist callers in determining the most appropriate course of action to take.
The Sask Sport Resource Line staff is qualified to handle calls regarding child and youth maltreatment (national/provincial child and youth protection laws) and organization-specific risk management and dispute resolution models.

June is National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month

Sask Sport is committed to providing fun, safe and healthy sport environments, as well as encouraging and supporting diverse and inclusive sport opportunities.

"Humble Sask initiative" helps expand junior virtual cycling competitions nationwide
|

When COVID-19 shut down the 2020 cycling season, Caleb Bender created a plan to get Saskatchewan Cycling Association athletes back in competition.
"There's only so much you can do to keep yourself excited to race, especially at the ages of some of the junior riders," said Bender, who has represented Saskatchewan in cycling at the Western Canada Summer Games and recently finished a junior career.

National Indigenous Coaching Awards nominations open

The 2021 National Indigenous Coaching Awards honour the accomplishments of a coach within the program year of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible as nominees:
- Applicants must be Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis)
- Applicants must be active within the year of nomination (June 1, 2020- May 31, 2021) Applicants must demonstrate sportsmanship, fair play and ethics in sport
- Applicants must complete a nomination package and submit to the Aboriginal Sport Circle on or before July 30, 2021 at 11:59pm Eastern Time

Everyone has a role to play when it comes to gender equity in sport and the virtual Conversation 2021 conference (June 8-11) gives you a platform to share your thoughts on the subject, listen to expert panels and discuss ways to move forward.
Sask Sport is covering registration to Conversation 2021 for the first 20 people who sign up with additional spots available through the Indigenous Coaches and Officials Program for qualified participants.
The deadline to sign up with for the promotional code is Friday, May 28 at 12 p.m.

Positive sport experiences found in safe, healthy and fun environments
|
|
“A safe sport environment is the foundation for a positive sport experience for all participants including athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and parents."
Recently, Respect in Sport training has added additional programming to include information on discrimination such as systemic racism, unconscious bias and microaggressions to help stay relevant to today's society. Although Respect in Sport training is mandatory for all coaches in the province, many other individuals are taking advantage of this program.
