November Athlete of the Month
Selected to attend international events with the Gymnastics Canada Junior National Team, Amy Jorgensen had top eight finishes in the all-around event and won a silver medal on the beam to be awarded the November Athlete of the Month.

Competing for the first time in person since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and for the first time as a member of the Junior National team, Jorgensen travelled to Combs La Ville, France in mid-November to compete at the Tournoi International event with Team Canada. She placed seventh in the all-around competition, 14th on vault and beam, as well as 12th on bars and floor.

The next week, Jorgensen competed at the Top Gym 2021 with Canada in Charleroi, Belgium where she won a silver medal on beam. She also finished fourth on the floor and in the all-around competition.

Jorgensen also competed in the Gymnastics Canada Technical Trials Virtual Event in the month. She finished first on the floor, second in all-around and beam, as well as third on vault and bars. The event was part of the Gymnastics Canada carding process.

Jorgensen was nominated for the Athlete of the Month Award by Gymnastics Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Sport Awards Watch Party
Mark your calendars for January 27 at 7 p.m. as Sask Sport celebrates the recipients of the 2021 Saskatchewan Sport Awards live on YouTube Premiere.

The ceremony will recognize individuals for the Coach Dedication, Volunteer Dedication and the new Inspire Through Sport Awards as well as in the six different Excellence Awards categories.
Invitation to Learn: 4 Seasons of Reconciliation
RBC is partnering with First Nations University of Canada and Reconciliation Education to welcome and invite individuals to learn from the various Indigenous contributors involved in the creation of 4 Seasons of Reconciliation.

This self-paced online program offers 10 modules on truth and reconciliation, which is available to all Canadians. Upon completion of the online course, you will be awarded a “Certificate of Completion” issued by First Nations University of Canada.  These resources are the result of many years of work and much careful thought – ayâkwâmisiwin (in Cree). 
Coakwell aiming for third Olympics

Ben Coakwell, a product of Moose Jaw, is eager to attend his third Olympic Games as a member of Bobsleigh Canada, a journey assisted by the Saskatchewan Program for Athletic Excellence, a grant that is supported by Sask Lotteries. Coakwell stars as the brakeman on Justin Kripps' four-man bobsled team, which is in the midst of the 2021-22 Bobsleigh World Cup. Fresh off a silver-medal finish at an event in Altenberg, Germany, Coakwell is in good shape to qualify.

Celebrating 12 Days of Sport
From December 21 to January 1, Sask Sport will be looking back at some of the sport highlights from 2021 and what's to come in 2022.

Coaches Association of Saskatchewan updates
Next Saskatchewan Coaching Academy starts in January
The Saskatchewan Coaching Academy offers coaches the opportunity to complete all nine Competition-Development National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) modules online over three weekends: January 14-16, February 18-20 and March 18-20.

Coaches must be certified Competition-Introduction (or the equivalent) and have a minimum of three years coaching experience, have completed the Make Ethical Decisions workshop and the Respect in Sport course before registering for the Academy.

The Academy costs $650 for all nine workshops. Scholarships are available for up to 50% through the CAS Coach Development Grant.
Aboriginal Coaching Modules in February and March
CAS will be offering the three-part Aboriginal Coaching Modules in person on February 10 in Saskatoon and March 12 in Regina.

The ACM is a professional development training tool for all coaches, whether Indigenous or non-Indigenous, who coach Indigenous athletes. Offered as a workshop through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), its content reflects the uniqueness of Indigenous cultures, values, and lifestyles and is rolled out in three modules:

  1. Holistic Approach to Coaching
  2. Dealing with Racism in Sport
  3. Individual and Community Health and Wellness

The module training is free and worth 15 NCCP Professional Development points.
ParticipACTION micro-granting webinar
ParticipACTION will be hosting a webinar about micro-granting and the 2022 Community Better Challenge series. The webinar will focus on how and when to apply for a grant, what grant funding can be used for and an overview of high quality applications.
 
  • A Saskatchewan-only webinar will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 10:00 a.m.
  • A national webinar will take place on Thursday, Jan. 13 for anybody who misses the Saskatchewan one.

From meaningful competition to feelings of empowerment and validation, there's lots of different ways to ensure that you're sport is creating a quality experience for Master Athletes.
