Let's celebrate coaches!

In support of the National Coaches Week campaign, the Government of Saskatchewan has proclaimed Sept. 19-27 as Coaches Week in Saskatchewan.

On behalf of Sask Sport, we would like to say #ThanskCoach to the more than 27,000 coaches —the majority of whom are volunteers— across Saskatchewan who work with athletes of all ages and at all levels of competition to give them a fun and safe sport experience where they can thrive.
Deadlines for Adaptive Sport Club Development and Equipment Grants extended
The purpose of the Adaptive Sport Club Development Grant is to provide financial assistance to support new developmental programs in communities or the expansion (enhancement) of existing sport programs for persons with a disability.

The cost of specialized (adapted) equipment for athletes with a disability to participate in sport is a significant barrier to their participation. The purpose of the Adaptive Sport Equipment Grant is to assist in removing this barrier and provide financial assistance for the purchase of adapted equipment to help people with disabilities participate in organized sport programs.

The deadlines for both grants have been extended. Clubs and Provincial Sport Organizations have until Oct. 15, 2020, to submit their applications. Please remember that applications from a club must be endorsed by their appropriate PSO prior to being submitted to Sask Sport.

KidSport and Co-op Fuel Good Day
Several KidSport chapters across Saskatchewan were selected by their local Co-op as beneficiaries of Fuel Good Day on Sept. 15. In addition to receiving a percentage of fuel sales for that day, KidSport chapters had additional opportunities to earn donations through sales of Co-op beverages and goodies, as well as on-site BBQs.
Women in Coaching Mentorship Grants
Supported through gender equity funding from Sport Canada, the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan and Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan are partnering to help High Performance coaches level up so that they can coach athletes to the next level.

Through a community of practice, mentors and mentees will be able to connect in meaningful ways to share their success while also sharing solutions to issues they may be encountering. This program is about building a lasting community among coaches; setting a foundation for sharing, support and the enhancement of skills in one's coaching toolkit.

Applications are now open and close Oct. 19.
The Advanced Coaching Diploma (ACD) is a coach driven, expert led, peer enriched and mentor supported coach education program.

The program is ideal for coaches working along the High Performance pathway who want access to cutting-edge, sport-science research and information, the opportunity to work alongside top coaches and mentors and who desire to be a more effective coach. This competency-based adult learning experience is delivered both in person and online through the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network.

The deadline to apply to be a candidate for the next cycle is Dec 31.
