For 2022, United Way Blackhawk Region has again earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency - the highest rating available by Candid (formerly GuideStar).

This rating serves as a testament to United Way's sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability.

Every year, millions of nonprofits spend trillions of dollars around the world. Candid finds out where that money comes from, where it goes, and why it matters. Candid’s data tools are the most comprehensive in the world.

Outgoing Board Members Recognized
Three members successfully completed two, three-year terms on the board of directors. “Board member rotation is a best practice, to ensure fresh perspective and diverse representation of our beautiful community,” said United Way Blackhawk Region President and CEO Mary Fanning-Penny. “All three of our outgoing members have been stellar advocates whom we’ve learned a great deal from.”
Community Campaign
United Way's volunteer Campaign Cabinet and Team continue to finalize campaign accounts and results. We also await information from sister United Ways on incoming designations and global corporate leaders. It is still too early to make a projection, but year over year comparisons are currently trending down. The best way to ensure 87,000 Blackhawk Region neighbors who have accessed 35+ United Way-funded programs do not lose critical safety net and springboard services, is to GIVE UNITED.
LIVE UNITED Celebration
As we fight for the health of every person in every community (as well as the education and financial stability) United Way Blackhawk Region has made the difficult decision to forego the traditional March timing of its annual LIVE UNITED Celebration.

Be on the look-out for creative announcements of 2021 campaign award winners and other important news. As always, we will publish a beautiful Annual Report to snapshot our collective impact, community investments, and recognizes esteemed Leadership Circle donors.
 
United, we look forward to special events as local COVID-19 transmission and health care capacity improve. In fact, 2022 marks the 10th Anniversary of the unification of the former Stateline United Way and United Way of North Rock County. Stay tuned for surprises to commemorate this milestone.

COVID-19 Response: Federally Resourced Tests and Masks
Starting January 18, every U.S. household is eligible to order 4 at-home tests, provided for free by the federal government. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days, and can be requested here. The White House also announced that it will make 400 million N95 masks available for free, available for pickup at local pharmacies as well as community health centers, limited to 3 per individual. These are likely to become available later this week before being “fully up and running” in early February.
