Scarsdale Adult School is proud to announce that it has just been chosen as the honoree of the Scarsdale Foundation Bowl Committee's 2025 Spotlight Award.
Since 1943, Scarsdale Village's highest honor, the Scarsdale Bowl Award, has been bestowed annually to a carefully chosen Scarsdale resident in recognition of one who has given unselfishly of his or her time, energy and effort to the civic welfare of the community of Scarsdale. Past winners include many individuals affiliated with Scarsdale Adult School. In 2023, the Scarsdale Foundation Bowl Committee also began selecting a "Spotlight Award" recipient in recognition of an individual or an organization that has made a significant impact and brought about positive change in one targeted sphere of community engagement. Individual candidates for these two prestigious honors must be residents of the Scarsdale school district and may not currently hold elected office while institutions being considered must serve the Scarsdale community.
In keeping with tradition, members of the bowl committee surprised SAS by arriving at Executive Director Jill Serling's home on Sunday night to deliver the exciting news, with flowers in hand and very kind words to say about our school. In her words, "I am humbled and overjoyed to accept the Spotlight Award on behalf of SAS. Our success in serving our mission in service of our community of lifelong learners is truly a collective effort thanks to our amazing staff, board, advisory committee members, instructors, and students."
The Scarsdale Foundation Bowl Dinner will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club. The dinner will pay tribute to the honorees while celebrating the spirit and culture of volunteerism in Scarsdale. Funds raised support the Scarsdale Foundation's mission of quietly but effectively helping local individuals and community organizations through need based student scholarships and project grants. This year's Spotlight Award is a wonderful example of two Scarsdale institutions supporting each other in furtherance of education.
