Takeaways from CADCA’s 20th Annual
Mid-Year Training Institute
There’s always much to learn from experts and peers in the prevention field, especially when our lives have changed so dramatically in the past year. In mid-July, some of Community Advocates Public Policy Institute’s prevention coalition coordinators attended the virtual version of Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s (CADCA) Mid-Year Training Institute. Youth Listening Session (13– 26 years)

The Wisconsin Office of Children's Mental Health is hosting an online Youth listening session to gather thoughts, concerns and ideas from young people from across Wisconsin, ages 13 to 26. Providing Cultural Competency and Effective Communication for the Hmong Population
Monday, August 2
The Health Resources and Services Administration and the Office of Regional Operations Region 5 Chicago will host a webinar on competent care for the Hmong population. This webinar will provide tools and resources for providers, social service providers and other community stakeholders regarding cultural competency and effective communication when engaging the Hmong community. The webinar will be on Monday, August 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. Click here to register.
Ethan's Run Against Addiction

In 2016, Ethan Monson-Dupuis died at the age of 25 from an accidental heroin overdose. Ethan’s Run Against Addiction is a run/walk in honor of someone who is in recovery or for someone who has lost their fight. All proceeds go to The Ethan Monson-Dupuis Opiate Recovery Fund through Aurora Health Care. Join them at Konkel Park 5151 W. Layton Avenue, Greenfield, WI 53220. WPHA Virtual Public Health in Practice Conference

The Wisconsin Public Health Association's Public Health in Practice conference is for governmental and non-governmental public health positions that teaches skills and tools to help improve community or workplace health. Identifying the benefits of public health workforce diversity and using holistic approaches to strengthen individual talents are just some of the few objectives of this conference. The Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force is calling for nominations to honor the work of those who are making a positive difference for people with mental illness in Milwaukee. Children Come First Conference
Monday, November 15 & Tuesday, November 16
Register to be a part of the Children Come First Conference, which focuses on caring for or working with children, youth, and young adults with social, emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges. You will learn strategies to apply in your daily life as well as connect with state and national experts. Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators

Classroom WISE, which stands for Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators, is a training package that supports K-12 educators with the mental health of their students in the classroom. This is a 3-part training that offers evidence-based strategies and skills that engage and support students with mental health concerns. This package also includes a free online course on mental health, a video library and resource collection. To learn more about classroom WISE, click here.
Research Opportunity for E-cigarette Users
Researchers at UW-Milwaukee are looking for e-cigarette users to participate in a study that examines the effectiveness of computerized attentional bias training for active e-cigarette users ages 18-29.
