Greetings!

Who do you know that became engaged on Valentine's Day?  How wonderful for the individuals involved and I'm sure you wish them well and want them to have a successful marriage.  How can you help them to not be a part of the 50% of marriages that fail today but a part of the 50% that survive long term?  By passing this newsletter on to them and encouraging them to get some pre-marital counseling is a great first step.

Read below regarding my qualifications and please encourage them to be as prepared for life "after" the wedding day as they want to be for the wedding day itself. After the flowers wilt and the guests have gone home, will your coworker, friend or family member have the tools to maintain a successful marriage?  I can help.

Enjoy the information below and as always, please pass it on to anyone you believe may benefit from its content.

Sincerely,

Positive Perspective.......

I am certified as a Facilitator of the Prepare-Enrich Pre-Marital Program, in addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  I have been married for 24 years, moved around the country several times and raised two wonderful daughters, now 17 and 20.

When you are preparing for marriage, you spend time concentrating on the many items for that all-important day.  You want the ceremony to be in just the right place.  You want the reception to look a certain way and have a certain feel about it.  What about the tuxedos?  What color will the bridesmaids' dresses be?

Shouldn't you spend as much time if not more on preparing for what occurs after the wedding day?  Have you talked about your goals or where you see yourselves in 5 or 10 years?  Are you confident in the way you resolve conflict?  Do you know how to problem solve efficiently? Have you discussed what would happen if one of you lost your job during the marriage?  Have you discussed who will care for children, should they come along?  What about a job transfer?  Would you even entertain that idea? What about handling the finances of the marriage?  Who will maintain that?  What about religion?  Is that an issue that needs to be discussed?  Pre-Marital counseling can help a couple discuss this and much more.  Wouldn't you want to have peace of mind on that special day knowing that you have discussed the "hard" stuff?

I first have my couples take an on-line assessment that is tailored just for them.  Once completed, we will begin our sessions covering one topic at a time to be sure we have discussed all the necessary issues before that big day arrives. The couple uses an interactive workbook that is provided to help them discuss issues like problem-solving skills and communication skills as well as finances, etc. Most couples complete the process in 8-10 sessions.

Upon completion of the material in the workbook, the couple will be given a certificate of their accomplishment. By completing the Prepare-Enrich program with me, you will be entitled to a discount on your marriage license.  See my website for more details.

My goal for you is to be prepared for a life of dedication to each other and a successful and long marriage that is pleasing to both of you.

If you or someone you know is preparing for marriage please be sure they receive some pre-marital counseling in some form to give them the best possible chance at marital success. Couples should begin this process as soon as that initial commitment has been made, if possible.

The initial program fee (which does not include the session fee) is $140, which includes the online assessment, scoring of the assessment and 30 minutes time for me to review the results and put your workbook/folder together.

* Each 50 minute session in my office has a fee of $110.

* Pay up front for 8 sessions at a reduced total cost of $800. (An $80 savings.) The $140 program fee is not included in this discount.

As an engaged couple, please make plans to prepare yourselves for life "after" the wedding day.  This preparation can help you to look at your marriage From the Positive Perspective.

Stay well .......
