The MNC Bayview campus organized a parent field trip to the San Francisco Botanical Garden during free admission Second Tuesday. Five parents, along with the campus Social Emotional Specialists and Family Service Specialists explored the diverse plant collections from around the world. For some, this was their first visit to Golden Gate Park, and for all of them, it was their first time at the Botanical Garden. During their visit, parents spotted many animals and learned about plants native to New Zealand, South America, Asia, Africa, and other regions. The plants sparked meaningful conversations, as many parents shared memories of growing up in small rural towns where plants were commonly used for medicine and home remedies. They were especially excited to visit the Children and Family Garden, where they were able to pick plants to take home.

The goal of these outings is to create a welcoming space where parents can participate in activities without their children and take time to relax and unwind. We hope to continue organizing parent-focused events each month to support parent connection and mental well-being.

MNC’s Wolfsohn Campus hosted a fun Reyes Magos (Three Kings) event, organized by Elidia Mendoza and Cindia Martinez from the MNC Family Resource Center.

We are thrilled to share that we blessed 33 families with toys for their children, who were excited to have a wide variety of toy choices. Which really made the experience joyful and memorable. Mothers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MNC, sharing how meaningful it was to receive support for their children during the holiday season, especially since many of them have limited family support in this area. The Reyes Magos celebration commemorates the birth of baby Jesus and the visit of the Three Wise Men. Giving gifts to children honors the gesture of the Reyes Magos and symbolizes love, generosity, and recognition of Jesus.

We hope to continue hosting this event every year, as every child deserves to receive a gift during the holiday season and to feel supported, valued, and celebrated.
