MESSAGE FROM THE

MAYOR

Hello neighbors,

The recent municipal election marked an important moment for our community, and I want to thank every resident who took the time to participate in the democratic process. Local elections play a critical role in shaping the future of Blue Springs, and your engagement helps ensure our city continues to move forward with strong leadership and clear direction.

I would like to congratulate our newly elected and returning City Councilmembers. In District 1, Jerry Kaylor was re-elected to retain his council seat. In District 2, Brian Markworth was elected, replacing Councilmember Kent Edmondson who retired. In District 3, we are pleased to have Nick Brummel continue his service to the community after running unopposed. Each of these individuals brings a commitment to public service, and I look forward to working alongside them as we continue addressing the priorities of our residents.

This election also included an important ballot question regarding the Sni-A-Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was approved by voters, receiving nearly 85 percent of the vote. This investment represents a critical step in maintaining and improving our city’s infrastructure. Reliable and efficient wastewater treatment is essential not only for current residents but also for future growth and development. I appreciate the community’s support in making a long-term investment that will benefit Blue Springs for years to come.

Finally, I would like to recognize and extend my deepest gratitude to Councilmember Kent Edmondson as he retires after 19 years of dedicated public service. Kent’s impact on our community has been both broad and meaningful. Over the years, he has generously given his time and leadership on numerous boards and commissions, including the Downtown Review Board, Public Art Commission, Public Safety Citizens’ Advisory Board and the Economic Development Council, just to name a few. Of course, his service on the City Council has been especially significant, helping guide key decisions that have shaped the Blue Springs we know today.

Kent’s commitment to this community is a true example of servant leadership, and his presence will certainly be missed. On behalf of the entire city, I thank him for his years of service and wish him all the best in his retirement.

As we welcome new leadership, invest in critical infrastructure and honor those who have served, Blue Springs continues to demonstrate the strength of its community spirit. I am confident that, together, we will build on this momentum and continue making our city an outstanding place to live, work and raise a family.
