Hello neighbors,
As we begin 2026, I’m excited to share just how much momentum is building in Blue Springs. Our community continues to move forward with purpose, investing in our neighborhoods, revitalizing our downtown and preparing for opportunities that will put Blue Springs on a regional and even global stage.
One of the most visible areas of progress is downtown revitalization. Downtown Blue Springs is evolving into a vibrant, walkable destination where residents can live, shop, dine and gather. New apartment developments are bringing more housing options to the heart of our city, supporting local businesses and creating energy around the clock. At the same time, we have issued an RFP for the former First Baptist Church property, seeking thoughtful redevelopment ideas that respect the site’s history while contributing to downtown’s future.
Across our neighborhoods, we remain committed to the basics that matter most to residents. The Neighborhood Street Preservation Program will continue to improve roads citywide, providing smoother, safer streets. These investments are long-term, strategic and essential to maintaining the quality of life Blue Springs is known for.
Parks and public spaces are also a major focus in 2026. Planning is underway for Southwest Park, a future community asset that will expand recreational opportunities and green space for families in the southern part of the City. Projects like this reflect our belief that parks are not just amenities, they are essential infrastructure for healthy, connected communities. Additionally, the department is updating its Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, scheduled to be unveiled later this spring.
This year also brings exciting global attention to our region with the World Cup coming to the area. Blue Springs is preparing to welcome increased visitors, cultural exchange and economic opportunity. It’s a unique moment to showcase who we are as a city, friendly, organized and ready to host the world.
Behind the scenes, we’re making major investments in infrastructure that keep the city running every day. Construction of a new Public Works building will provide modern facilities for the team that maintains our streets, fleet and essential services. At the same time, Sni-A-Bar Wastewater Treatment improvements are enhancing system capacity, reliability and environmental stewardship, critical upgrades that position us well for future growth.
You’ll also notice a refreshed look and improved digital experience online. In 2026, we are launching a new city website, along with a refreshed logo and an updated web address. These changes are more than cosmetic, they improve accessibility, consistency and how residents find information and interact with the City.
And of course, we’re expanding the moments that bring us together as a community. This year’s Red, White & Blue Springs Fourth of July event will be bigger than ever, with expanded activities and entertainment designed to welcome families, visitors and longtime residents alike.
None of this progress happens by accident. It’s the result of dedicated City staff, engaged residents and a shared vision for Blue Springs’ future. As mayor, I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited about where we’re headed in 2026 and beyond.
