Hello neighbors,
One of the most powerful things any of us can do for our community doesn’t require a title, a degree or even a paycheck—it simply requires showing up. Volunteering is one of the most direct and meaningful ways to make a difference in Blue Springs, and it’s something I hope more of our residents will consider in the months ahead.
Whether it’s lending a hand at a community events like Red, White & Blue Springs, delivering meals, coaching a youth sport, serving on a City board or commission, or helping out with a neighborhood cleanup, volunteering connects us to the heart of what makes Blue Springs special: people who care.
When you volunteer, you're not just filling a role—you’re shaping the future of our city. Our advisory boards and commissions, for example, are made up of residents who bring valuable ideas and perspectives that help guide City policies and decisions. These groups touch nearly every part of life in Blue Springs, from planning and development to parks, public art and more.
Events are another great entry point. They’re fun, fast-paced and offer a great chance to meet neighbors while helping bring our community together. And trust me—there’s something deeply satisfying about seeing the smiles of families enjoying an event that you helped make possible.
The truth is cities don’t just run on budgets and buildings—they run on people. People who step forward, give a few hours, share their talents and invest in their neighbors.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d like to get more involved, but I’m not sure where to start,” now is the perfect time. Our City website has a page dedicated to volunteer opportunities, including open board and commission positions. Or feel free to reach out to my office—we’re always happy to help you find the right fit.
Blue Springs is built on community spirit. Let’s keep that spirit strong—one volunteer at a time. Thank you for all you do.
