Hello neighbors,
As we reach the midpoint of 2026, I am proud to reflect on the tremendous progress our community has made during the first six months of the year. Blue Springs continues to move forward with important infrastructure improvements, exciting community events and long-term planning efforts that will shape our future for generations to come.
In February, I had the privilege of delivering the annual State of the City Address, where I highlighted many of the accomplishments from the previous year and outlined our vision for the future. Since then, our City has continued to build on that momentum.
One of the most visible projects currently underway is the Downtown Streetscape Project. This transformative investment is enhancing our historic downtown by improving sidewalks, streets, landscaping, lighting and public gathering spaces. While construction can create temporary inconveniences, the long-term benefits will help create a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly downtown that supports local businesses and strengthens our community identity.
Across our neighborhoods, the Neighborhood Street Preservation Program continues to make significant progress. Thanks to voter support, we are investing millions of dollars into repairing and preserving residential streets throughout Blue Springs. By the end of this year, we will have paved more than 100 miles of roads. These improvements are helping extend the life of our roadways while providing safer and smoother travel for residents.
Planning for the future remains a priority. This year, we launched work on updating the City's Comprehensive Plan, a critical document that will guide growth, development, transportation, housing, parks and economic development over the coming decades. Resident input will play an important role in this process, and I encourage everyone to participate as opportunities arise.
Blue Springs also hosted a World Cup Watch Party in Downtown Blue Springs. Residents gathered to cheer on Team USA, creating a fun atmosphere filled with community pride and excitement. The event showcased the strength of our downtown and demonstrated our community's enthusiasm for coming together. The popularity of our limited-edition Blue Springs soccer scarves further highlighted the excitement surrounding the event, with residents proudly displaying their Blue Springs spirit.
Transportation improvements continue throughout the city as well. Earlier this
