Blue Springs Eagles Lay 3 Eggs

Last month, the City’s resident bald eagle pair laid three eggs, marking a historic moment for the community and local wildlife conservation efforts. Be sure to keep watching the livestream for the eaglets to hatch, hopefully, sometime in March.

The female eagle, named Freedom, and the male eagle, named Liberty, were given their names in recognition of the bald eagle’s status as a national symbol of the United States.

The milestone comes during a meaningful year for the nation. The bald eagle, a long-standing symbol of freedom and strength, represents the United States, which is celebrating its 250th birthday this year. This kicks off a series of celebrations the City has planned throughout the year recognizing the nation’s birthday.

Election set for Tuesday, April 7

The next General Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The City of Blue Springs will have three City Council seats on the ballot as well as one Question regarding renovations to the Sni-A-Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant.

MESSAGE FROM THE

MAYOR

Hello neighbors,

Recently, I had the opportunity to deliver the annual State of the City Address, a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, celebrate what we’ve accomplished together and look ahead to the future of Blue Springs.

The message this year was clear: Blue Springs remains strong, growing and positioned for continued success. None of that happens by accident. It is the result of thoughtful planning, responsible financial stewardship, dedicated City staff, strong community partnerships and residents who care deeply about the place they call home.

Over the past year, we have made meaningful progress across every area of City government. Investments in infrastructure continue to improve our streets, utilities and public facilities while preparing Blue Springs for future growth. Public safety remains a top priority, and our police department continues to serve our community with professionalism and commitment every day.

We also continue to invest in quality of life, from parks and recreational opportunities to community events that bring neighbors together. Projects like the development of Southwest Park and ongoing improvements throughout our parks system demonstrate our commitment to ensuring Blue Springs remains a place where families want to live, work and play.

Economic development efforts are helping attract new businesses while supporting those already established here, strengthening our local economy and expanding opportunities for residents. At the same time, we remain focused on long-term planning to ensure growth happens responsibly and sustainably.

During the address, I also emphasized one of our most important priorities moving forward: supporting community safety and wellbeing for all residents. Through collaboration with community partners and initiatives like the Neighbors in Need Task Force, we are working to better understand and address the needs of vulnerable populations in meaningful ways.

While we can be proud of what we’ve accomplished, our work is far from finished. The future of Blue Springs includes continued infrastructure investment, strategic development, enhanced city services and maintaining the high quality of life our residents expect.

Most importantly, the State of the City is not just about programs or projects — it’s about people. Blue Springs succeeds because of engaged residents, dedicated volunteers, local businesses and community leaders who work together to move our city forward.

Thank you to everyone who attended, watched or continues to stay involved in our community. Together, we are building a future that honors our past while creating new opportunities for generations to come.

It is truly an honor to serve as your Mayor.
