2023 Visionary Voice

Award Spotlight

Each year during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center recognizes outstanding advocates throughout the country for their dedication to survivors and ending sexual violence. The Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence is beyond excited to nominate Claudia Melton as Delaware's honoree of the 2023 Visionary Voice Award!

Claudia Melton

Claudia is a fiercely passionate advocate with significant experience

in sexual violence. She has been in various advocacy roles for over a decade. She previously worked at Survivors of Abuse in Recovery (SOAR). She is currently a Social Worker with the Department of Justice in the Special Victims Unit. Claudia works tirelessly to help provide support and comfort to victims of sexual violence that have experienced horrific tragedies.

As a Department of Justice Social Worker, Claudia carries an average caseload of 170 active investigations and criminal prosecutions. Claudia listens without judgment while reminding victims of the strength they possess. Claudia leads with her heart and breaks down barriers for victims to be able to stand tall. She connects with each survivor, making sure they feel heard and supported, working relentlessly to address the range

of emotions survivors experience throughout the criminal justice process. Claudia's dedication and passion for victims of sexual violence know no bounds.

Please, join the Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence in congratulating Claudia on her selection for the Visionary Voice Award!
