Employee directed donations key to community giving at D.L. Evans Bank

For over 100 years, D.L. Evans Bank has developed a rich history of service to Idaho and beyond. Started as a community bank supporting local farmers and residents, D.L. Evans Bank is now a leading, regional financial institution with a wide range of financial services for its customers and a firm commitment to supporting the communities it serves.

D.L. Evans Bank has a primary mission to give back.

A core value is Commitment to Community. “Local communities are our lifeblood, so we want to make sure our communities thrive,” said Jim Evans, Executive Vice President at D.L. Evans Bank. “Giving back through employee volunteer hours, donations, scholarships, and sponsorships are just a few ways we show our commitment to helping those around us grow and thrive.”

Every year, D.L. Evans Bank employees log thousands of volunteer service hours within their communities by giving their time and support to hundreds of organizations. In 2022, employees volunteered over 13,542 hours of service and the bank donated over $547,000 in donations and sponsorships.

The Bank also funds the Employee Directed Donation Initiative with $50,000 each year and donations ranging from $500 – $5,000. Employee submissions must provide affordable housing for low-to-moderate income individuals, community services targeting low-to-moderate income individuals, activities that promote economic development by financing small businesses, or activities that revitalize or stabilize low-to-moderate income areas.

“Local communities are our lifeblood, so we want to make sure our communities thrive.”

In 2023, D.L. Evans Bank became a recipient of a Federal Home Loan Bank (FHL) grant. The FHL grant will provide $600,000 for education, economic development and affordable housing programs. “We are very excited about the FHL grant,” said Evans. “It matches up to $3 for every $1 of the D.L. Evans Bank donation and will go a long way to help with our ongoing community outreach programs.”

This commitment to giving back is also a key reason why D.L. Evans Bank has invested over $150,000 in Business Plus since 2003. Jim Evans is the current Business Plus President and serves as President of the Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization (SIEDO), recently organized as a non-profit 501c3 organization.

Over the past 30 years Business Plus has brought our business and community leaders together to grow our economy. Our mission is to ensure that we all play a role in Southern Idaho’s economic growth, business investment, talent recruitment and training.

"Business Plus brings together a group of like-minded individuals who understand that by working and investing in our community together, we can achieve results greater than individual investing. The trickle-down effect of bringing new business and employment opportunities to our area collectively makes all of our businesses benefit.

Investing in Business Plus has a proven track record that brings economic prosperity into reality."
