Artist Spotlight

Welcome to our Artist Spotlight Series for A Doll's House Part 2, where we get to know the actors a little more.

Meet Gary

Gary Demuth (Torvald) most recently appeared in Spamalot, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, and Clybourne Park at Theatre Salina. He is a teachers aide and forensics coach at Southeast of Saline. Gary is married to Marcia Demuth, has a daughter, Sheila, and a son, Patrick. He also has two granddaughters named Greer and Marin, and a Schnauzer named Sebastian.

Gary explains, "I wanted to do A Doll’s House Part 2 because of the great script and the opportunity to work with Tyrees Allen, a professional actor and director who I knew would challenge us to do our best work. The experience has been exhilarating for all of us."

He adds, "We’ve been rehearsing since late October to prepare this show, doing a deep dive into the script to explore every nuance and emotional beat in order to present the most honest and truthful show possible. I haven’t done such intense work on a script since acting school back in my youth, and the experience will make me a better actor and director in whatever future theatrical work I may do."

He goes on to say, "A show like this is what the intimacy of the Black Box theatre was created for, so I’m glad for the chance to be part of such an intense, emotional and thought-provoking work which stimulates conversation about life, relationships and the challenges of commitment."

"Working with Tyrees, and with these three other great actors, has been an experience I’ll never forget, and a reminder of why I love theatre, and why I’ve devoted a big portion of my life to it."
