Putting a spotlight on Invite • Welcome • Connect.

Guided by the gospel imperative to “Go and make disciples of all nations,” the ministry of
Invite • Welcome • Connect was created to equip and empower individuals and congregations to practice evangelism, hospitality, and connectedness. Up until now, IWC has been more of a behind-the-scenes ministry here at St. James’s, a philosophy or belief system that we’ve tried to weave into much of what we do here.
But starting now, we want to move IWC into the foreground by highlighting when the principles of IWC are alive in the things we’re doing. That’s why beginning with this week’s eChimes, you’ll see that we’re adding the IWC logo to a number of our “stories” about upcoming events. It’s a gentle way of reminding ourselves that this powerful ministry is central to who we are as doers and disciples – and that there’s always an opportunity to say hello, extend a hand, or ask someone to join us. Thanks.

There's lots happening in our Children's and Youth Ministries this summer. To find out more, click here to read the Doings June newsletter.

Vacation Bible School
Be a hero. Help your child make lifelong memories.
Register now.

Vacation Bible School is more than a great summer experience for children. It’s the perfect summer opportunity for youth and adults to have an awesome time volunteering too.

Parents, now’s the time to sign up your child (or children) for our fun and unforgettable VBS program.

If you’re a teen (6-12 grade) or an adult (with or without kids), help us make this the best VBS ever. It's not to early to sign up.
  • Teens can earn service hours.
  • To make volunteering easier for families, we will offer nursery for siblings under 3 each day of VBS

This year’s theme is Hero Hotline: Called Together to Serve God! You can go here to learn more.

Here’s the link to our registration form (for students AND volunteers). Please fill it out and return it to Ashlee Ligon, either in person or by email – childrensministry@doers.org
Have fun! Go nuts! Don’t wait.
Join us at a Richmond Squirrels game in July.

After having such a great time last year, St. James’s is going back to see the Flying Squirrels – on Saturday, July 8! The Squirrels take on the Bowie Baysox at 6:05 pm, plus it’s Glow Night and fireworks.
You can purchase your General Admission Tickets to the game when click hereBut don’t wait, the Squirrels are drawing big crowds this year, and we don’t want anyone to get shut out.

As we get closer to the game, we’ll send out more information on where we’ll be sitting.

It’s not too early to think about
the Parish Retreat.

It may be summer, but we’re thinking about the Parish Retreat on October 20-22 at Shrine Mont. Save the date for this wonderful weekend that never disappoints.

If you are interested in serving on the planning committee, please email our Retreat Chair, Meredith Harbach by Monday, June 12 at meredith.harbach@gmail.com
Keeping Up with St. James’sers
is back! With a twist.

Our popular Keeping Up With St. James’sers program – where you share with us what you’re doing and where you’re going over the Summer - is back.

Last Summer, most of you shared your vacation plans with us – which was awesome. But this Summer, we want to expand what you share to include things like:

Volunteering (hint: food pantry, animal shelter), hobbies (hint: gardening, cooking, painting), backyard/block parties, accomplishments (hint: moving, graduations), spending time at the pool, spending time with your dog or photos of your pets, activities with your kids or grandchildren, weekend activities (hint: hiking, sailing, biking), offbeat moments, or any other activity – serious or silly. It's about what you’re up to this Summer.

Send photos and information about what you're doing and where you are to
Weezie Beckley in Communications.

Don’t be shy. Have some fun. Surprise us!
The shelves of our
Little Free Library are bare.
Help us refill them.

The Little Free Library our youth built last year has proven to be very popular – so popular, in fact, that we’ve nearly run out of books to fill its shelves. That’s where you come in.

If you have any gently used books for children K to 5th grade, and are willing to donate them, we’d love to put them in the Little Free Library.

Just bring your books to The Parish house during the week or to the Narthex on Sundays…and we’ll see that they get into good – and grateful – hands.
