KMVT is Your Hometown Station

From station programing to news to community events, KMVT is dedicated to being “Your Hometown Station.”

When Eric Walters took over as VP/General Manager at KMVT in June 2023, he re-directed the station to passionately serve the interest of the Magic Valley community. “This is where our viewers grew up and feel most connected,” said Walters. “Being their Hometown Station has to mean something to both us at KMVT and our viewers across the region.”

KMVT supports this promise in three key ways: primary focus on local news, programming that highlights local activities, and support for community events that reflect the best interests of viewers in the Magic Valley.

As the only local news station, KMVT prides itself on having a more focused perspective on the region. “First and foremost, we are the only local news station,” said Walters. “Our #1 job is to serve the people living in any of our hometowns. During severe weather, we protect our viewers. During breaking news, we inform our viewers. If one of our hometowns is in need, we rally around them to help.”

KMVT also supports several community service events such as blood drives, career fairs, street festivals and business spotlights. The station’s local business outreach includes specialized programing such as Salute to Idaho Agriculture and Real Estate Today. “We also have a series that spotlights local businesses called Behind the Business,” said Walters, “giving them much needed media attention targeted to our local audience.” Magic Valley Art Glass was a recent spotlight that told the story of how a self-taught glass blower turned his passion into a business teaching the art to others. Gem State Paper Supply Company was also spotlighted, telling the story of a company that started in 1946 selling Bic pens out of the back of a truck and evolved into a major commercial cleaning supplies and paper products supplier.

“Behind the Business is a great example of how KMVT is committed to our local business community and the philosophy of Buying Local,” said Walters.

So whether it’s local news, events or programming such as the Friday Night Blitz high school football game coverage, KMVT is proving every day that it is the Magic Valley’s “Hometown Station.”

"A strong and growing economy is vital to any community. When I first arrived in Twin Falls, I was made aware of the great things Business Plus was doing across the region and wanted to support the group. KMVT is a proud member of Business Plus and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
