Discerning the Right Path Forward

The Nonprofit Start-up: Discerning the Right Path Forward is a series of three 1-credit academic courses. This series is designed to provide guidance on starting a non-profit and give participants a leg up in avoiding pitfalls. Participants will review legal organizational structures and assess which are best suited for achieving desired outcomes. Students will examine the four essential functions inherent to the nonprofit structure and assist potential founders in developing an outline of a start-up plan.


Course 1: Nonprofit versus for-profit: What is the right choice?

Course 2: Fundamentals of Nonprofits

aka “If you think you want to start a nonprofit, consider this….”

Course 3: The Successful Nonprofit Start-up: Keys to Success

aka “Okay, but this is what it takes….”

4 weeks Online / On your own schedule / 1 Academic Credit / Aug 7 - Sept 3
