A Fire Safe New Year's Resolution
Scott Loh, University Fire Marshal, asks you to make a New Year’s Fire Safety resolution. These important steps, when made a part of your everyday routine, work to reduce the effects should a fire occur or, best yet, prevent the fire from occurring in the first place.
Peer Safety Team presents at Vassar Conference
Charlie Somma and Jim Sullivan, members of the Facilities Operations Peer Safety Team, joined Shaundree Davis and Jamie McQuaid from Princeton EHS at the Hudson River Valley Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSP) annual professional development conference in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Charlie and Jim discussed their participation in the peer group, which promotes workplace safety and worker input and participation in safety initiatives.
Golf Cart Charging Safety
Departmental electric golf carts, club cars and utility vehicles can be incredibly useful to travel and transport items across campus. However, that convenience requires a level of awareness and vigilance when it comes to charging the large battery banks used to power them.
Robin Izzo Begins Term as ACS Safety Division Chair

Princeton EHS Executive Director Robin Izzo is the 2020 chair of the American Chemical Society's Division of Chemical Health & Safety (CHAS).

The mission of CHAS is to "provide authoritative technical resources and mentorship in chemical health and safety for all” through education and advocacy. Robin continues as an editor for the journal ACS Chemical Health and Safety.

TigerSafe: Snow Alerts

Receive push messages on your mobile device regarding delayed openings, cancellations and early dismissals due to inclement weather by enabling notifications through the TigerSafe app. Open the app, click "About/Preferences" and "TigerAlert: Notifications."

All faculty staff and students should receive emails and text messages through TigerAlert. Campus status is also posted to Princeton.edu.

Biosafety Best Practices: Boxing and Labeling
How to safely package your regulated medical waste.
  • Do not place more than 35 pounds of waste into each cardboard box.
  • Place sealed and labeled box into corridor or bring to your department’s designated regulated medical waste storage area.
Lab Safety Training Has Online, In-Person Components
Safety training for laboratory workers has a web component, Fundamentals of Laboratory Safety , which must be completed before the in-person session Laboratory Safety at Princeton University . Both are listed under Environmental Health and Safety Training in the Employee Learning Center.
