SEPTEMBER we are proud to put in the spotlight:

TAHOE LITERARY FESTIVAL

Stories have the power to connect people, place, and culture. The Tahoe Literary Festival celebrates the written and spoken word, igniting creativity, nurturing aspiring writers, and cultivating a thriving literary community.

Bringing together authors, poets, songwriters, and readers alike, the festival fosters a vibrant space where ideas flourish and voices are heard. With world-class literary events hosted right here in Placer County, the Tahoe Literary Festival transforms the written word into a lasting bridge—linking community, culture, and the timeless art of storytelling.

What inspired the creation of the organization?

The festival was born out of a shared dream between publisher Katherine Hill and author Priya Hutner. While working together at The Tahoe Guide, they envisioned a gathering that would celebrate the literary arts and the region's rich and diverse literary community and creativity.

The Tahoe Literary Festival is a grassroots community event-

The festival fosters creativity, cultivates community, supports artists, and inspires anyone passionate about the literary arts in whatever form they gravitate toward. The event features generative workshops, craft talks, readings, and panels. The Literary Festival’s goal is to inspire writers, aspiring writers, book lovers, and those interested in exploring and dipping their toes in the literary waters.

The Festival offers something for everyone—whether you’re a devoted reader wanting to hear about new books, an aspiring writer wanting to learn more about the craft, a writer exploring ways to publish their book or someone simply curious about the creative process. It's about creating and cultivating community and connection through words and song.
