Keep on track
Keeping on track during this move to the virtual world means exercising your time management skills. Set a routine, block time for work, sleep, exercise, and social just as you would for any other day. Plan ahead, schedule a regular time to meet and communicate with colleagues and friends. Some families may need to plan work times around WiFi usage or quiet times so be cognizant of that when planning group work.

Ways to focus and avoid being overwhelmed
Schedule out tasks you don't need to accomplish now.
By scheduling things later into the future, we allow our minds to let them go. It removes it from the list of things that overwhelm us. If something doesn't need to be addressed now, pick the appropriate time to address it later. Then, move on to what does need to be accomplished in the short term.
Timeblocking can help you grow your awareness
When you schedule in every part of your day, even the fun stuff, it helps you gain a lot of perspective. You learn where you spend your time and energy. How you waste your time. And even why you can't seem to get it all done. The more you work this process, your priority awareness grows exponentially. Watch our discussion about time blocking in the video to the left.
Keep your eye on the next step, not the mountain
It's great to have big goals. We all feel overwhelm with everything we have to do. We cannot stay focused on the huge amount of work ahead of us. We have to take it piece by piece. Decide on one component to accomplish today. Make it a priority. Then, do it again tomorrow.

We all count, participate in the 2020 Census
Every 10 years, the U.S. Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. Territories. This information is used to distribute more than $675 billion in federal funds for public services like Pell grants, public transportation, schools, hospitals, etc. and determines the number of congressional seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives. Each person counted amounts to over $10,000 for Allegany County resources over the next decade.
What do I need to know?
- Students that normally live at school, should be counted at school. Even if you are temporarily living somewhere else due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- If you live with roommates, one person should fill it out for everyone, you will need to know everyone’s: Birthday, Gender, & Race.
- Not sure if your roommates already did this? Did your parents count you back home? Fill it out anyway! The Census will work to remove any duplicates.
- If you live on-campus, FSU has counted you! No need to do anything.
