Chattahoochee CASA Chatt Memo

Serving the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit

A Message from our Program Coordinator...

CASA Day at the Capitol is February 15, 2024. This year, 2 CASA staff will have the opportunity to visit with our legislators and share about the importance of CASA’s role in the child welfare system. State funding is utilized to support the recruitment, screening, training, and supervision of CASA Volunteers by providing an experienced staff person to supervise 30 Volunteers who provide direct advocacy. There are 479 children in foster care throughout our Judicial Circuit today with close to 350 of them still awaiting a CASA Volunteer to advocate in their best interest.

We are also busy planning our 7th annual RED SHOE PARTY! This fundraising and community awareness event is themed around Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in the Wizard of Oz emphasizing that, “There is no place like home.” Representing the very mission of CASA and recognizing that every child deserves a safe and stable home, we are thrilled to bring this “party with a purpose” back for another fun-filled evening in Uptown Columbus. Join us for dinner, drinks, live music, a silent auction, and more at a BRAND-NEW venue, The Pearl. See below or visit RSP 2024 for ticket and sponsorship information!

Spread the LOVE this season--- support CASA by Volunteering, attending or donating to RSP 2024, sharing our social media posts, and encouraging others to get involved!

We are happy to announce that our first training class of 2024 began last night! We are starting the year with a bang and have 23 (YES 23!!!) eager and excited trainees who are ready to embark on their CASA journey!

February is Black History Month

Black history month is an opportunity to

understand black histories, going beyond histories of racism and slavery to spotlight black achievement. this year's theme is black family: Representation, identity and diversity, and will explore the African diaspora.

What a special way to celebrate the new year! After 1,901 days (5 years, 2 months, and 14 days) in foster care, these amazing young men were ADOPTED and found their forever! We are so thankful for their adoptive mother, who not only opened her home, but her heart to ensure these young men had stability, love, and someone in their corner, as they navigated the foster care system. Chattahoochee CASA is so grateful for committed volunteers like Vickie who dedicated years of service to advocate for her CASA kiddos, inside and outside the courtroom, to ensure their needs and wishes were met. Vickie demonstrated that being a constant is an overburdened system, makes a world of difference.
