The Volunteer Voice
Vol. 6 Issue 2             Be The Change. Volunteer              February 2017
Friend, February may be the coldest month of the year but we know you have the heart to warm it up. Share the love this month by organizing food donations at Marketplace in Camden or by helping people in need of a place to stay with Winter Shelter Helpers. When you're ready, get trained to lead projects as a volunteer  Project Coordinator. Or join us at  Mardi Gras Magic  to celebrate volunteerism and raise funding for Jersey Cares.  We have more than 300 ways to show you care during this month of love, so get started being the change you want to see!
Mardi Gras Magic
Join us on Thursday, March 23rd from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ to celebrate volunteering and raise money for Jersey Cares at
Mardi Gras Magic!
NBA Assists our Troops
The NBA wrapped up their “Season of Giving” this holiday season by remembering people who are out of sight but never out of our minds: our troops. NBA employees packed boxes filled with gum, treats, coffee mix, wet wipes, and other items to make life a little more enjoyable for our men and women serving overseas.
Take the Next Step - Be a Leader
Take volunteering to the next level and become a Project Coordinator! Project Coordinators lead Jersey Cares’ recurring volunteer opportunities and serve as a liaison between volunteers, our nonprofit partners and Jersey Cares. They inspire volunteers to “Be the Change” and provide direction during projects. It’s a fun learning opportunity in which you get to network with nonprofits and other community leaders while being supported by a cohort of other volunteer leaders. Project Coordinators commit to lead two or more projects per month for six months at a time. Please Visit our website or contact Gabby Fernandes to learn more.
Volunteer Star
Mecca Keyes returned from her 2012 vacation newly inspired and dedicated to making a difference, so she committed to become more involved socially and politically. A quick Google search led her to the Jersey Cares website and the opportunity to volunteer with Marketplace in Hillside, which is in her Newark community.

Jersey Cares is getting a new look! Next month we will be rolling out our new logo. But don't worry -- we're the same Jersey Cares and all of your favorite projects will still be waiting for you!
