Find Your Passion. Give with Purpose.

Greetings!

Challenge Air is raising funds through North Texas Giving Day on September 22, 2022 to support our mission of building confidence and self esteem in children with special needs. Any generous contribution you make can help a child experience the gift of flight!

But guess what? You don't have to wait until September 22nd to give! Help us reach our goal of $30,000 to support this life-changing mission.

Meet Dave & Sally Wheeler

About ten years ago someone told me about Challenge Air. I’m not really sure who it was but I was told there was a Dallas “Fly Day” coming up at Dallas Executive Airport. In fact back then, I believe it was still Redbird Airport. I told Sally I was going to sign up flying our restored 1957 Cessna 172 and she said she would go along as a ground volunteer. One Saturday and 7 flights later we both knew we would be involved in Challenge Air for a long time.

Seeing what giving those kids a “special” day of self esteem does is indescribable.

My favorite Challenge Air story is when a family came. The 12 year old son had some learning problems. His 2 year older brother had no problems and wanted to be the star of the show. He did not hold back on telling he was the football quarterback, he was the star of his basketball team, he got good grades in school - I,I,I/me,me.me if you know what I mean. His brother just stood by quietly while big brother bragged on. Then we went flying, big brother in back and his brother up front flying as my co-pilot. When we got back big brother went right back to bragging but this time he was telling everybody “my brother can fly an airplane – my brother is a co-pilot – my brother knows how to fly airplanes”. My guess – that may have been the first time that kid had his big brother brag on him. I believe it made him feel good and I know it made us feel good.

I now serve on the Board of Trustees and look forward to having unlimited time to serve and promote Challenge Air for Kids & Friends. Challenge Air for Kids & Friends is an organization that spreads a lot of good from every direction. I encourage everyone that has a chance to go to a Fly Day to do so and if you do, be aware, you will probably become involved. Challenge Air has given me and continues to give me a tremendous opportunity to “give back”. I hope to be involved for a long time.

Kansas City Fly Day Fun with United Health

"We had a great day with Jerry! The funniest story goes along with our selfie of the little dude who got to fly! He actually flew with Scott in the pouring rain – but man, we all wish we had the positivity of this kiddo – he made our entire day!

Thanks for all of your hard work! We LOVE this so much!"- Lyndsay and Autumn
Co-Pilot Quinn Takes Flight

"I had so much fun with Challenge Air for Kids and Friends today. Thank you to Mr. Sonny and Pilot Scott for helping me fly. This is my second flight and I felt less nervous. Things like this are so special to kids like me." - Quinn
"Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and memory for our family!"
