February Mindful Moment: Cultivating Kindness

Kindness is contagious! 💛 Research shows that small acts of kindness—whether giving or receiving—can have a powerful impact on mental well-being. A meta-analysis by Curry et al. (2018), published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, confirmed that acts of kindness significantly boost happiness across cultures and contexts. Similarly, Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky's research found that performing just five kind gestures a week enhances well-being and reduces stress. Kindness also strengthens social bonds and creates a ripple effect, inspiring others to pass it on.

This February, take a moment to brighten someone’s day—and your own. Whether it’s offering a heartfelt compliment, writing a note of gratitude, or lending a helping hand, these small gestures make a big difference. Together, we can create a kinder, more connected community!

Honoring Dr. King's Legacy at the 44th Annual MLK Prayer Breakfast

On Saturday, January 18th, All Souls Counseling Center’s staff and board members had the honor of attending the 44th Annual MLK Prayer Breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Asheville. Over 1,000 attendees gathered to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his enduring legacy. The choir was absolutely amazing, and the speakers left us inspired and moved. We were especially grateful to hear from Governor Josh Stein and keynote speaker Jonathan McCoy, whose words resonated deeply. We’re proud to stand alongside so many in our community to reflect on Dr. King’s vision of justice, equality, and compassion!

ASCC Donor Appreciation

This month we extend a special thank-you to Dogwood Health Trust for their recent generous grant and confidence in our pre- and post-hurricane mental health work. This support will significantly further our services to those with barriers to counseling in Western North Carolina.

Our staff, therapists, and Board are incredibly grateful for Dogwood Health Trust's partnership and commitment to dramatically improving the wellbeing of people and communities in WNC. Thanks to their support, we are able to expand our critical services to bring hope and healing to those experiencing a very difficult time in their lives.
