School is has started and kids are attending in-person classes! This is great news and a time to continue to be safe with the new COVID variant. We wish all staff and students a safe and fun school year!

Saturday, September 25 - Chicken and Pork Chop BBQ,
Two pork chops or 1/2 chicken. $12. 11:30 - 1:00 PM. Pick up at Beebe's Sap House, Spencer Road. Benefit for Candor Valley Riders Snowmobile Club. Tickets can be picked up at the HiWay Dairy Bar on Owego Rd.

Every Thursday 3:30-6:30 - support your local artists, artisans and farms!

Candor History Center is open 9 AM- Noon. Other times by appointment by contacting Georgia Westgate at 659-7769 or Nancy Riggs at 759-4001. We have lots of old photographs, family histories, information on past Candor businesses, old CCS Yearbooks, old newspapers, books about growing up in Candor, etc.
Tuesdays
Candor Planning Board Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7PM.
Candor Town Board Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7 PM. They are currently held live via YouTube. For information on how to access the site, please contact the Town Clerk at 659-3175, ext 1.
Wednesdays
The Bread of Life Food Pantry on Water Street is open every Wednesday from 3:00 - 5:30 PM.
The Open Hearts Dinner, a free meal, is open for drive-thru takeout every Wednesday night at the Methodist Church on Owego St. from 4:00 - 5:30 PM.

Tioga County Chamber of Commerce Announces 2022 Leadership Tioga Program
 
Owego, NY – The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the Leadership Tioga program is accepting applications for its class of 2022.  “Leadership Tioga has had well over 300 graduates since the program started in 1998,” Sally Yablonsky, Interim Tioga County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO stated. “We are very eager to see what fresh perspectives the class of 2022 brings.” 
 
Leadership Tioga is committed to inspiring and connecting participants to services in our community by promoting personal growth, leadership development, networking, and skill building. 
 
Sarah A. Darling, Sr. Real Estate Lending Underwriter for Chemung Canal and Trust Company, and Sarah is the Advisory Committee Chair of Leadership Tioga and is thrilled to have Abbey Ortu Hendrickson join us as a Facilitator and partner for the coming year. “Abbey is the perfect fit to kick off our exciting new program for 2022. Please consider joining us as we educate, inform, and empower participants for future leadership roles in Tioga County.”   
  
Abbey Ortu Hendrickson works for Tioga County Economic Development & Planning as a Community Development Specialist. She grew up in Owego, attending Newark Valley Central schools. Abbey is the past Executive Director of the Discovery Center and the Tioga Arts Council. She earned her Master’s Degree at the University of Buffalo and Bachelor’s degree at SUNY Brockport. She lives in the Village of Newark Valley with her family and their menagerie of pets.
 
The sessions are held at various locations throughout the County and will give participants the opportunity to learn more about what Tioga County has to offer. Dynamic speakers will discuss topics ranging from volunteerism, performance management, public safety, and human services, to name just a few. The Program offers one 2.5 hour morning class per month, beginning in January and ending in November.
 
Tuition for the 11-month certification program is $300 if paid by 12/6/21 and $350 thereafter. The application deadline is December 31, 2021, and the first session will be held in January 2022.
