Bag Tossers!

This is the final week of regular season play!! This is the last push to work on your craft and get your team in the best position possible. Next week will be the full playoff breakdown. We are weighing a few options on the best playoff format but the good news is that everyone will make the playoffs!

A few orders of business to take care of quick:

  • On the league page you may have noticed a new standings column called ELO. ELO is a rating that awards points based on the actual verse the expected outcome of a game. So your team's ELO will go up a lot when you pull off a big upset, and only go down a little when you lose to a strong opponent. In the 'schedule' section of the webpage, you can see how ELO scores change after every game. A change of 30 or more means there was a BIG upset. The rankings are just for fun now. Unlike your team's record, your ELO rating will carry over from season to season.
  • We are NOT playing Memorial Day Monday 5/29. I expect everyone to be practicing and playing with their friends and family :)
  • THEME WEEK! I love theme week. The week after Memorial Day will be our league's theme week. This will also be our championship week. Fittingly, our theme is 'Take Pride'. Teams are encouraged to represent what they are proud of including their country, heritage, and whatever else makes them proud. The winning team receives $100 plus their pic will be honored on our website for a full year.
  • If you are interested in more than cornhole or beyond the BFCU, we have tons of summer leagues coming up. The summer season starts July 5th. We've announced registration for 34 leagues. Check them all out here.

Not trying to have you all read a long essay so I will keep the summary notes brief. Some teams really put themselves in good position coming into the final week. Shout out to Holey Moly Guacamole and Send It! who had fantastic weeks. But the night was absolutely owned by Fire in the Cornhole and more specifically Paul from that team. His back might have been sore after this performance. He hit not one but two 4-baggers last week helping his team win all four games. Way to go!

That's a wrap. Moving forward towards Week 6!

Catch ya on the Boards,

Matt

AirMail Challenge

This week, we are introducing a fun challenge and chance for y'all to win some cash money!

About halfway through the night, we are going to stop normal game play and breakout the LI-Kick AirMail Box. Everyone will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win $100! How can YOU win the $100 prize? If your ticket is chosen at random, you will be given a set of bags and you will take your best shots at sinking a full court airmail. Not as easy as it sounds so hopefully you have been practicing during the season.

If the first person misses all their shots, we will call another raffle ticket for the next lucky contestant to test their luck. We will keep this going until someone walks away a winner!

Week 4 Schedule

Great South Bay Brewery

25 Drexel Drive

Bay Shore, NY 11706

7PM Start Time - Come early to practice and grab a drink!

Schedule will be run on the Scoreholio app.

Bar Champs

Last week's bar game was one we are calling Tipsy Tourney. Here we had players bounce pong balls to their teammates about 15 feet away and the teammate had to catch all the pong balls in the cup. The catch is that after each successful catch of one pong ball, the teammate had had to catch the next ball in a new cup that was stacked directly on top of the recently caught ball. Leaving a leaning tower of Pisa situation and the potential for a debris of fallen cups!

Sadly, you all performed marvelously! I think throughout the entire night, there was maybe two times of fallen cups. Nonetheless, the competition was fierce in who the quickest catchers were. The Snacks found themselves the quickest catchers of pong balls this side of the Mississippi has seen. Congrats to Erin, Kacie, Tom, and Kristin!

The Travel Dodgeball Experience

We've been sending kickball teams to travel tournaments for years and now we bring that same excitement to our Dodgeball players. It's an unmatched vibe when you're road-tripping to a new city, rolling deep with your squad, playing teams from other states, and staying out late at the post-game party or chilling in the AirBnb.

Our Dodgeball players have played in 9 different tournaments off of Long Island, and now you can join in. We've created a 'Travel Dodgeball' Facebook group to help organize players and teams. All are welcome to join.

We keep track of travel tournaments in the 'Travel Experience' section of our webpage.

The next travel Dodgeball tournament is August 5th in Philadelphia, PA.

The next travel Kickball tournament is June 3rd in Hartford, CT.
