Students Study Business Practices and Structures Abroad
Germany visit gives students a new perspective on business
Five students from the College of Business Administration spent 15 days in Germany as part of TAMUK's Study Abroad program. They participated in several academic sessions, including a dispute resolution simulation, a group presentation/case study on the future of the automotive industry, a week-long observational study of German culture, and group lectures on a range of topics (e.g., renegotiating of NAFTA, the Volkswagen emissions scandal, and the current status of international sustainability efforts).
During their visit business students also had an opportunity to travel around the country learning more about its history, culture, and economy. For example, one of the weekends was spent in Berlin, where students took a walking tour of the city and visited the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, and toured an underground bunker created during the 1980's to hold over 3,000 people in the event of nuclear war. The last day was spent in Hamburg before returning home.
