"Older adults do not stop being who they are because they hit a particular age," said gallery director Marlena Vaccaro. "Professional artists never stop doing what we do, and in many cases we get better at it as we go along."
Susan Rosenthal, Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation; Dominic DiBari, Ravenswood; Executive Director, Bill Dionne and Lisa Fernandez, Carter Burden Network; and NYC Councilman Ben Kallos cut the ribbon.
Roosevelt Island Senior Center - NEW Sewing Studio

On March 13, we opened a brand new sewing studio at our Roosevelt Island Senior Center, outfitted with eight new sewing machines and all the accessories.

We can't wait to see what our seniors create.

This was made possible thanks to generous funding from Ravenswood Generating Station.

Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Annual Fashion Show

On Friday, March 23rd, more than 20 seniors transformed into runway models and took to the catwalk at the Carter Burden Network's Annual Fashion Show at the Covello Senior Program in East Harlem.

Senior Students Graduate From Technology Class

Congratulations to our students who graduated from the OATS (Older Adults Technology Services) 10-week computer training program.

OATS  engages, trains and supports  older adults  in using  technology  to improve their quality of life and enhance their social and civic engagement.

Thank you to our Corporate Volunteers!

We are so grateful to all of the corporate volunteers who help us carry out our mission to ensure older New Yorkers can live safely and with dignity.

Special thanks to CMAD - The Center of Makeup Artistry and Design for donating their time to provide professional makeup application for our senior models at the Covello Fashion Show .

In addition to lunchtime meal service and meal delivery to the homebound, we have many other unique opportunities for corporate groups to volunteer at the Carter Burden Network.
