ACRI 7th Annual Legislative Summit
May 8-9, 2018

Curt Pringle & Associates client, the Association of California Recycling Industries (ACRI), hosted their 7 th Annual Legislative Summit in Sacramento on May 8 & 9. ACRI is a nonprofit trade association comprised of recycling businesses throughout California. ACRI was founded in order to help protect the rights of independent recycler's, and its members are committed to promoting free-market competition for recyclable materials.

This year ACRI members met with legislators and state leadership to explain the impacts of China’s current ban of the import of certain types of recyclable materials and unprecedented quality standards. For years China has been the largest market for US generated recyclables and thus China’s recent actions are having a direct impact on California’s recycling industry and the State’s ability to achieve its diversion goals. ACRI’s messages were well received and Curt Pringle & Associates will continue to educate and advocate for ACRI’s priorities during this legislative session. For more information about ACRI, please visit www.acrinow.org .

Accompanying the group were CHOC Government Affairs Officer Jena Jensen and residency program director Dr. Tommy Wang. The doctors met with a number of legislators, including Jim Wood, Chairman of the Assembly Health Committee, and State Senator John Moorlach. Residents discussed topics ranging from funding for additional pediatric residency spots to the children’s hospital bond on the November ballot.
11th Annual HomeAid Essentials Donation Drive
May 10, 2018

Curt Pringle & Associates led the effort to kick-off the 11 th Annual HomeAid Essentials donation drive, in partnership with CP&A client, the Children and Families Commission of Orange County. The campaign kicked off at a Community Partner Luncheon at the HomeAid Family Care Center on May 10. Led by Honorary Chair Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens, this countywide donation drive will collect diapers and other essential items for homeless families, thru June 8, 2018.

Essentials donations enable recipient agencies to save the funds normally spent on diapers for use on programs that help their clients achieve self-sufficiency and lead productive, independent lives. On average, a family needs 3,000 diapers a year for one child and adding in other costs, such as wipes and care items, makes this an annual cost of over $1,000. In just the first ten years of the campaign, items collected have grown from 30,000 to over one million items in 2017 and over seven million items over the life of the campaign.

The campaign will culminate on June 8, as HomeAid Orange County hosts the 4 th Annual “Builders for Babies” event at under the Big “A” at Angels Stadium in Anaheim. Homebuilders and community groups will construct structures out of diaper boxes. HomeAid aims to collect over one million diapers during the event and encourages the public to drop off diaper donations between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Items collected will be distributed to non-profit providers who operate housing and shelters built in partnership with HomeAid Orange County to serve homeless families and pregnant mothers. Public donation drop off locations will be located throughout Orange County. A complete list of drop off locations and additional information about the donation drive is available at www.homeaidessentials.org .
