Dear GLCEDC Members and Friends:

Spring is off to an eventful start at the GLCEDC. Over the last few months, the GLCEDC approved a Building Improvement Grant for Sister's Inn and Wells on Main, both businesses are located in Fairbury. Also, an Economic Incentive Grant to Vactor Manufacturing in Streator was approved. Dontz visited the Prairie Central Junior High S.T.E.A.M. class to observe students using equipment purchased by a grant from the GLCEDC. Lastly, the GLCEDC disbursed a Community Enhancement and Economic Stimulus Grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County for the "WI-FIghterz Robotics Club". Following are the Details:
Economic Incentive Grant
The GLCEDC and Livingston County approved a $120,000 Economic Incentive Grant to Vactor Manufacturing, located in Streator. The City of Streator took the lead by approving Tax Increment Financing [TIF] eligible expenses, and the State of Illinois is providing its Edge tax credit.

Vactor will be investing nearly $20,000,000 for a building expansion in excess of 100,000 square feet and will be creating at least 90 new, full-time positions.

Building Improvement Grant
Sister's Inn
Sister's Inn, Fairbury, was approved for a $4,977 Building Improvement Grant to improve the interior of a historic home which is being converted to a lodging and event facility.

Wells on Main
Wells on Main was approved for an $11,250 Building Improvement Grant to improve the interior and exterior of their building which they are converting to a wedding center including: tuxedo rental, photography studio, and four rooms for overnight, AirBnB rental.

Prairie Central S.T.E.A.M. Grant
Dontz Visits Prairie Central
S.T.E.A.M. Students
The GLCEDC approved a S.T.E.A.M.(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Grant to Prairie Central C.U.S.D. #8. Adam Dontz, GLCEDC, visited the Prairie Central Junior High and students shared their skills related to engineering and medical technical fields.

Boys & Girls Club Participate in International Robotics Competition
The Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County received a $7,908 Community Enhancement and Economic Stimulus Enhancement grant to create a high school robotics team called the WI-FIghterz. Over six weeks, the team of six Pontiac students and two Fairbury students created a 120 lb, fully functional robot. The team recently attended their first competition at Bradly University in March, 2019. WI-Flghterz competed against numerous students from around America, Canada, and Turkey. WI-Flghterz won "Best Rookie Team" and overall placed 13th of 40 teams.
